I can’t believe people had the audacity to say that Frozen was the first movie to show "Sisterly Love" when LILO AND STITCH LITERALLY EXIST

it's been almost two years and i know no one is gonna read this but if you look at the scene in Nani's room, she has a bunch of surfing trophies. It's theorized that she was going to become a professional surfer, but when their parents died she had to give it up to support Lilo. It's just a heart breaking background detail about Nani that i love.

Lilo probably consider Elvis a model citizen because that's her dad's favorite singer. If you look at the photo of her family, her dad's playing a guitar. Probably sang to lilo his favorite elvis songs. Why she's obsessed with elvis

I'm always disappointed with how people literally refuse to appreciate this movie.

When Dylan cries, he waters himself. That's how he's grown so tall.

LILO:”I remember everyone that leaves...” Dylan: aggressively cries in the corner

“This is my family, I found it all on my own, it’s little and broken, but still good...Yeah still good.” This gets me in the feels every time I hear it.

Some things to note: Leis are a symbol of love in Hawaiian culture, so when Stitch is acting crazy and she puts a Lei on him, she is calming him with her love. Nani was only 19 years old. Her relationship with Lilo, and her struggle to keep the fragments of her family together, are what make the movie so heartbreaking. She gave up any future she had to keep her sister out of the system. Stitch's entire arc is the Ugly Duckling. Before the two pages, a swan egg hatches with a brood of ducklings accidentally. The swan grows up thinking it's a very ugly duckling, and that's why it looks different. The swan then gets lost and finds its true family. Stitch was born in chaos and evil. He finds his Swan family with Lilo and Nani, and he slowly realizes who he is and where he belongs.

Lilo's and Nani's parents died in a car crash during a bad storm. So Lilo's insistance on feeding a fish that controls weather takes on a whole new meaning

Lilo and Stitch hit different as an adult because you understand the pain, lost, existential fear, and determination of Lani to keep her sister from going into the system while sacrificing her wants and needs and the trauma Lilo has from losing her parents. And Stitch wanting a family and becoming more sentient.

He's seen Mulan, Lilo and Stitch and Tangled. Those are my 3 favorite Disney movies and I'm happy he loves them all just like me.

Nani and Lilo's parents died in a car accident during a rain storm. That's why Lilo brings Pudge a PB sandwich every week. Pudge controls the weather. "Lilo" means "broken" in Hawaiian. And Lilo needed a Stitch 😭❤ I love this movie so much. It came out when my little sister was 3 and made her obsessed with Elvis Presley. And the way Nani and Lilo fight is totally how I fight with my sister. We are 13 years apart. When I'm upset about something or I'm missing home and my sister my husband will put on Lilo and Stitch.
  • The running theory I've heard is that Lilo's parents died in a car crash due to a storm the one day Lilo didn't take Pudge the fish a sandwich. Lilo, being a kid, took that to mean Pudge controls the weather, and that it was her fault for the storm. This also explains why Myrtle's "you're crazy" comment caused such a dramatic reaction from Lilo - it wasn't just a mild insult, it was a direct insult to her for her method of coping with her parents' death.
  • for as little screen time as he gets, David (Nani's boyfriend in the end) stuck by Nani's side the entire time and helped her as much as she could with looking after Lilo and finding her a job. he doesn't even question helping her out when he finds out aliens have basically ruined her life, and they weren't even together at that point! also, its small, but him taking her complimenting his hair to heart rather than her thinking his butt is cute, is adorable

Aside from the aliens, Lilo and Stitch is legitimately one of the most real stories to come out from Disney. A broken family, a little girl who feels like she doesn't belong or has anyone there for her, a big sister trying to single-handedly take care of the only family she has left, the stress of all that being added onto by social services,... One of my little sisters is so much like Lilo, and she has an emotional support guinea pig that she named Ohana because "Nobody gets left behind or forgotten." Everyone needs a Stitch in their life.
