In my Real Doctor vs. TV Doctor medical drama review video, I promised that if you got that video to 10,000 likes I would record myself reacting to a full grey's anatomy episode. You got it to 20,000 likes! You have spoken and I have listened. You should know that I do get the question a lot from patients as well. Is grey's anatomy accurate? So I finally decided to take a dive and find out!

In this video, I sit down and watch the first ever Grey's Anatomy episode. Basically, a real doctor reacts to greys anatomy! I grew up watching ER and other TV medical dramas so I had a suspicion I would enjoy the show. I have to say this, greys anatomy is not medically accurate but the way it describes the characters as residents is very accurate. The hospital drama is real and I feel the show did a good job highlighting the difficulties of being a resident, inside the hospital and out. The one medical scene which totally threw me is when the surgeons automatically assumed that the seizure patient will need surgery before even coming to a diagnosis. That is not real life medicine.

It surprised me that the show is actually very entertaining and I actually enjoy the drama between McDreamy / Derek Shepherd and Meredith Grey. Apparently, TV doctors do have souls haha. The hospital romance is real!

Get this video to 15k likes If you want me to do another doctor reacts to greys or doctor reacts to the good doctor or any other show. Please comment down below the name of your favorite show and episode. Love you all and appreciate the support!

It was really nice to hear him say that nurses run the hospital. I'm not in any type of medical field but nurses don't get enough appreciation.
  • @The7evenm
Finally he appreciated nurses unlike most shows.
  • They also mentioned this 80 hour law later in the series. The first episode is really old where this law didn’t exist .

I worked in (German) hospitals for quite a while. And most of the times doctors were busy doing paperwork, visiting their patients maybe once a day, while nurses did most of the work portrayed in Grey's Anatomy. At least work that doesn't include surgery or life threatening situations. And of course there was drama, but it almost never had anything to do with people falling in love with each other xD

“Nurses run the hospital”.. this is a big appreciation for us as a nurse by heart and by profession. 💜

"I thought mcDreamy would have a little more muscle on him, he's looking a little fragile there"  😂 I died
  • They incorporate the Libby Zion Law into the series, later on making all the interns and residents work only up to 80 hours a week. It actually has a significant bearing to the subplot of the relevant season.

I like that you are calling out how wrong Shepard"s behavior was.
  • as a teacher of medicine I started with the first year students by words: " forget what you have seen on TV, or you may kill patients. Films are for getting the audience, not for showing reality or teaching."

"Nurses keep the hospital running" Wow. As a nursing student who's about to graduate in a few months I appreciate this statement tremendously.

Seeing Doctor Mike react to the Denny Duquette season finale episodes would be the highlight of my year 😂

I fell in love with grays anatomy, I really enjoyed watching it until Derek left, after that I think the series lost its magic. I liked the series so much that I even dreamed that I was a doctor and operated on a patient, I work with accounting but I already thought about starting to study to pass the medical tests, who knows... if not in this life, it will be in the next . I’m loving this video but the pillow in the background! 😂💀
  • @rachelking2754
I love how he is acknowledging the other staff in hospitals and not just bigging up the docters
  • It was really nice when he said that the nurses run the hospital because nurses don’t get a lot of recognition and almost everyone thinks that they don’t do anything at all but what these people don’t know is that nurses play a major role in hospitals.

As a nurse I am so grateful that u point out our role. I love love ur content and have found so much value in it.

For those who aren’t aware (I don’t remember if this was mentioned in the video-) but they actually have medical professionals in the shooting rooms! For the close up (only hands seen) procedure parts they have a professional do this. Some of the acting staff is medical professionals too.
