Despite being largely unfancied before the tournament, Spain have swept all aside on their march to the Quarter-Finals, and now face Germany with the winner almost certain to be favourites.

But how, without their usual array of big-name stars, have they looked like Euro 2024's most accomplished team? Adam Clery looks at both the personnel and the system to show why they could go all the way.

  • 10 England players have played more minutes than the first Spanish player in the list of ‘minutes played’ which I guess reflects the manager’s inability to properly use substitutions.
  • Spain have been by far the best team at Euro 24. Hope they win it.

Love that you have Fabian Ruiz on the thumbnail. He's been one the best center mids in the toutnament.

If England don't win (we won't), I hope Spain wins. I hoped they would win in 2010 for the same reasons I do now. They play football how I think it should be played. None of this robotic pepball, or Southgate terroristball. Just attractive, fearless, attacking football.

Spain v Germany is basically the final - they are by the far the best two teams in the tournament, and it's a real shame they have to play each other so early. I'm not sure that home advantage is quite such a big thing for the Germans; but Nagelsmann (possibly the most tactically astute coach in the tournament) and Musiala (the one player who regularly looks like he could conjure a goal from nothing) might be the difference makers. Let's hope for a great game anyway.

I'm now thankful to all english people that come to Spain in the holidays year after year but refuse to speak the language at all. Please keep doing that, everybody wins.

I'm 60 ,(from Spain) and my generation have spent my childhood and part of my adult life terrified at the idea of playing against the great national teams. We had a mantra "jugamos como nunca, perdimos como siempre" until the spell was broken in 2008 in a penalty vs Italy. Now we only fear our own mistakes, not who the rival is. Vamos!

I think that the person who loves football sees clearly that the Spanish team is the one that currently plays the best. Logically, Spain should win, but logic in single matches does not decide, the luck factor is very important. That is, I think Spain will play better than Germany, but I don't know who will win.

I really hate it that they are going to face Germany. Having only one of these two (form me, thus far most interesting teams to watch) continue with the tournament is such a shame.
  • @ndhlovumichael
Spain is the best team for sure, but as you said KO tournaments are unpredictable... But they should win this
  • @valarcon9132
Love the nonsensical literal translations to Spanish and the great football analysis. Keep it up ❤

Yes to all you said in the video, and on top of all of that, Spain play fun, entertaining football that is pleasing to the eye
  • If the game was played on a neutral ground, I would favor Spain beating Germany. However being the host and always being great in penalty shootout, I’d say die Mannschaft has at least a 60% winning possibility. Good luck to both teams though!
  • Laughed at the subtle Morata shade at the beginning, cos it's so true. Whatever evolution Spain go through it always ends with "...and also Morata is there" lmao
  • @johngachugu305
I said that 5 months ago that La Roja Spain is always a threat because they play attacking, fantastic and entertaining football. Fabian Ruiz 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
  • @ordro107
Rodri, Ruiz and Laporte were simply unplayable. Big physical presence, dribbling skills superior to most small players, brains bigger than most squads combined... Can't beat that
