In this video, leading psychologist, Dr. Judy Ho, and MedCircle host, Kyle Kittleson, provide eye-opening insight to the Adult ADHD diagnosis and treatment. From causing relationship issues to interfering with work productivity, and even to co-occurring with other mental health issues like substance abuse, anxiety, and depression, Adult ADHD is pervasive—especially when it goes undiagnosed.

In this video Dr. Judy Ho answers...
- How common is ADHD in adulthood?
- What is the difference between adult ADHD and ADD?
- What are some common misconceptions when it comes to adults who either believe they have ADHD or have received the diagnosis of ADHD?
- What percent of children recover from ADHD and what percent of people have it in adulthood?
- A lot of adults think they have ADHD. When does it go from being "a lack of attention" to full-blown adult ADHD?

I can't concertrate when teacher speaks and i get easily distracted. So i tell myself to listen to the teacher, but instead of listening I end up thinking about how I should look and pretend to be concentrated so the teacher would think im listening and concentraiting.

Avoidance is a big 1 for me. I avoid mundane work by distracting myself with other things. Example: before I can fill out paper work I must have my home clean, find perfect outfit, light candles etc... Can't do it until I'm at dead line and full of over the top anxiety. It's sick!

the fact that i'm looking up these types of videos up instead of writing the two papers assigned to me and studying for the two exams i have tomorrow says enough.

I honestly get distracted easily especially by my own thoughts. I’m either having conversations with myself or thinking of song lyrics

If you can look someone in the eye during a conversation and really try to listen and not hear a word they say that's a big identifier.

For me the biggest problem has definitely been procrastination and avoidance. I've avoided doing important tasks that I need to do, and I've missed out on opportunities simply because I don't like filling out forms.
  • When I was in school I kept telling my teachers or parents I think I have ADHD, but they just ignored my suspicions. Then at 26 years old after a life of failures in academia, I was diagnosed with ADHD. They didn’t think females could get ADHD. Do not disregard a child when they come for help. If I had the help I needed I would be so much more successful.

Who had difficulty focusing on the video? 😂😂

The part where she talked about developing depression and anxiety because of ADHD hit a little too hard

Undiagnosed ADHD as a kid really messed up my adult working life. It gets so bad even a slight thought can make me not want to work the entire day and slack off. I get distracted by the most minimal things. I’ll step away from my desk and find myself in a whole other activity the entire day. It’s so frustrating because I can’t perform the way I want to at work because I genuinely can not focus. Thinking medication may be the only answer.

I cried at this. I’m 28 and recently split from my partner of 7 years. I live alone for the first time and it seems like so many things are falling apart but not because I’m sad, because I am so disorganised. Without the influence of that partner, I have no schedule, struggle to complete tasks, have very low concentration, distracted all the time… this could be a life changing realisation for me.

"Without treatment adhd can lead to chronic fatigue, anxiety, disorganization, and issues at work or at home" Well I've never seen all of my issues summed up so quickly Edit: Still getting comments a year later. Part of me regrets this comment because I made it in a self-pitying mood, but I'm keeping it up. Update though, I did get diagnosed. That said there's lots of stuff that can mimic ADHD, so if possible I highly recommend seeing a doctor about these issues. Even if you can't go somewhere and get a full adhd test, try to rule out some physical health problems that can mimic it or make your adhd worse. also that said, even if you don't have a diagnosis, if you relate to the same issues then feel free to use advice meant for adhd people. It might still help.
  • I think the hardest part about ADHD is the impact in relationships and social skills. Every day is so hard
  • At the age of 28, I’ve finally come to the conclusion I must get tested for ADHD. Money problems, career problems, relationships issues, losing friends…all because I just can’t seem to be normal and do normal things like follow advice, or not spend money. It’s tough.

I’m sitting here crying because she just described ME. I’ll be 42 in a month and I’ve been struggling my whole life with these issues. I need to be assessed ASAP.

I wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until I was 23... I barely made a 3.0 in college despite my efforts... I’m 28 now and my life has made a 180. I’m finishing up grad school & pursuing medical school. A good clinical example where w/ proper diagnosis & treatment, a patient’s quality of life can improve dramatically

Ironically a video about ADHD with the title 'signs you should be looking for' and they take forever to get to the point.
  • Haven’t left my room in two days. I’m 99% sure I have adhd. I resonate with all of this. I thought I was bipolar at one time as the symptoms are very similar. The impulsiveness, the mood swings, irritation, not being able to complete fuckin anything or just giving up when it gets tough.
