Kings and Generals historical animated documentary series on the early history of Islam, as we discuss the events that led to the schism within the Muslim community, as Islam split into two branches - Sunni and Shia Islam. This happened in the latter stages of the Early Muslim Expansion, as the Rashidun caliphs - Umar, Uthman and Ali were assassinated, which led to the war of succession, killing of Ali's son Husayn in Karbala, and the creation of the Umayyad dynasty under Muawiyah I.

They knew the risk of killing the prophet's grandson. They did it anyways.

I feel bad for Ali and his sons. They were brave and honest men

Born in a sunni family. But after reading more and more about islam. I have to say that "ALI" was the rightful successor of Muhammad pbuh. ❤️

One thing that is interesting for me is that, Ali and his sons, Hasan and Husein, have never been dictators, they didn't want to achieve political power in any cost, they always considered people, I think they were the men of democracy in their own time and situation.

Hold firmly to the rope of Allah together and do not become divided. Quran - 3:103
  • Ali known for being the bravest and strongest warrior in his generation. He never fought under any commandment after the prophet's death (think why)... Also did not start a civil war in Madina to regain his stolen position. He always put Islam interest first. A true leader. My leader.

So much Backstabbing actually made me sympathize with Ali's Family and plight

It's a little embarrassing to get this far without knowing about such a pivotal event in world history. Thank you for shedding light.

I was born sunni. Never understood plight of shias..... But when i learned the story, i feel that the shias have a legitimate beef. Now i have love for shias and side with them.

I am a muslim, yet I never learned about this at school. And now I've held a master degree. This channel is a blessing in disguise. No channel has ever covered this topic in detail before. God bless this channel and its patrons.

As a shia convert from sunni Islam, I would say that anyone who study the history can see clearly that Imam Ali a.s was the rightful successor of the holy prophet (s). Anyone who feigns neutrality after seeing the facts are behaving just like those people who after knowing about genocide in gaza still say 'oct 7'.
  • As a shia i gotta say sunni and shia are all brothers and we all belive in allah and prophet, thats what all islam is .your brother from iran❤
  • I am a non Muslim. So lemme get this straight. Ali was Mohammed's son in law and was a very good friend of Mohammed, so much so that Mohammed gave his daughter up to Ali for marriage. Everybody knew Mohammed loved Ali and was his good friend. Then during Mohammed's last sermon, Mohammed stopped a massive crowd in the middle of the desert just to tell them that Ali was his friend? Doesn't make sense to any neutral. Then Yazid killed Hussein and all of Mohammed's direct family and humiliated them even after death? I'm sorry but I am siding with the Shias here.

You forget to mention what went on after Karbala. Karbala incident was not just massacre of Ali's family but it went on to Yazid imprisoning the females and children of Ali's family, Hussein's daughter died in the prison in Damascus. The wedge kept going on because Shia muslims stood behind rest of Ali's family including the eldest son of Hussein, Zain-ul-Abideen (the only male survivor after Karbala). This continued the Ahu-al-Bait (family of Prophet) who were supported by Shia and Caliphate that was supported by Sunni for later years.
