Why We Planted 2,120 Trees On Our Beautiful Property - Greenbelt Property Taxes

Published 2021-03-10
In this video, we are planting 2,120 trees on our property to receive the Florida Greenbelt Exemption. We planted 2000 pine trees and 120 red cedar trees. This will lower our property taxes as well as create wildlife habitat for all our deer, turkeys and other animals we have around our house.

We partnered with Forest Environmental Solutions LLC to create a management plan for our property. I highly recommend FES if you're in the central Florida area looking to do the same thing to your property.

In the 70's I was in high school and my dad decided to plant trees on 11 acres. We planted thousands of 12 inch spruce and a couple of hundred each of hickory and walnut. We also left some room for roads and pastures. 50 years later, dad is gone and I am old, but we have an amazing forest. We have harvested so many Christmas trees, quails, deer, pheasant and my home is filled with hickory and walnut furniture. It takes just a few short decades to grow a forest, but you have to start early. My dad, my kids and my grandkids have all enjoyed the forest I so hated planting with my dad 50 years ago. Plant your saplings now and one day, soon enough, you will look out and realize you have a forest. BTW, that dining room table you and your wife made was an absolute work of art. Keep the vids coming.

It should smell pretty nice in that area with the cedar trees.
  • That planter looks like a modified tobacco transplanter that we used on our plantation to transplant tobacco plants. Brings back lots of good memories. Really like your acreage and house. You and Zoe are living a life so many would like to have. Y’all stay safe and be blessed!

Absolutely brilliant you guys. Many years ago my family planted a couple thousand pine trees on a back lot, let them grow and then spent many weekends transplanting those trees around our property. Great project for your property. On a side note: I enjoy watching the machines work.

That is a mighty fine home their buddy living the dream ✨
  • Very cool. I planted a few dozen cedar on my farm as a wind break. ( S.Central Kansas) I mudded them in the ground with a good root stimulator. That was about 20 years ago, they all are huge and are doing their job. I hope yours do as well. I just stumbled upon this podcast, I think I’m going to stay. Thanks again
  • Now that was a great video! Nice idea for your property that pays off for you, our ecology, and eventually, the economy. Great to see how they plant the trees! Very cool!!!
