The Girl on the Train - CineFix Review!

Published 2016-10-06
Based on the novel of the same name by Paula Hawkins, this psychological thriller intersects the lives of three women involved in a missing persons investigation. Many will draw comparisons to Gone Girl but in this nonlinear narrative, Emily Blunt's layered portrayal of alcoholism may save this movie train from steering away from its trail.

Ti hated it so much she didn't show up for the review.

Finally, a fair review of this movie, and someone who realizes this is a very different story that shouldn't be compared to Gone Girl! I've read the book, and thought it was a pretty close adaptation - flawed characters all around, lead by an unreliable narrator.

that is quite possibly the best thumbnail on the internet

couldn't agree more. great review! the film was decent, the story telling in the 1st half of the movie was kinda messy... but emily blunt's performance was an oscar worthy!

Clint looking FABULOUS in that thumbnail!!!

There are some good moments of tension. Yes, there were a couple of bits skipped, but it is still quite close to the book. Emily Blunt does steal it. Definitely worth a watch, if you read the book.

Have u seen BLUE JASMINE? Cate Blanchette plays a SO SO SO good drunk/crazy woman.
  • Wow, Clint has the first positive review I've heard for this movie. The book wasn't that great, it had no surprise and it overall wasn't that interesting. I can't see myself reading it again because I just don't feel compelled to. So I really don't need to see this movie imo.
  • Finally have the face that goes with the voice. Cute 😁😍 ok. SOrry. Married. K. Got it.

    Cool background, great review, like.
  • Clint, honorable mention for great drunk acting goes to Jimmy Stewart in The Philadelphia Story. Fuck it, Hepburn, too.

Jim Lahey (John Dunsworth) from Trailer Park Boys is my favorite screen drunk of all time.

Luke Evans needs to win an Academy Award for his supporting role in this movie. He is such an underrated actor and he totally perform really good in this movie.
