  • I can confirm that most of the great value cookies are made by colonial cookies I used to work there

Don't know if it's true or not but I've heard that Aldi's spices were from McCormick as well. In my experience, quite a few of the "generic" versions of certain products are sometimes actually better than the original 😏

I was surprised when my son told me the Great Value Cheetos tasted even better than the brand name Cheetos.

He sure likes to talk a lot without saying much. 6 minutes in the video and he uncovered only what? 6 brands?
  • I worked at interstate brands. We made rainbo bread , great value, and quite a few other brands. I remember seeing great value on the production list most days.
  • My first job was at an IGA grocery store back in the 90s. Very often I could show a customer our IGA brands were made in the same factory as the name brands. My favorite story is Kemp's Dairy. They made our IGA milk and Cloverleaf milk, another off brand private label. An angry customer brought back an open gallon of Cloverleaf milk demanding we exchange it for Kemps. We did, of course. But it's the exact same milk. Our Kemps rep told me so. The only difference is the label on the carton. The vast majority of the time generics are so good I would be more interested in seeing a video talking about the exceptions when they are not.

The negative aspect is we don't know where our food is from and who makes it. This should be enough to make nobody buy store brands or private label. Every food product should be required by law to list manufacture (including who actually owns the company) so many companies that were traditional American owned are now owned by Asians or worse. Labels should also include the plant and address and country of origin of all ingredients. Food products should not be allowed to hide ingredients behind Flavors or Natural Flavors. We should know 100% what goes into something. Should be riots in the street over this. Nobody cares. Just get back to work slave. Make that money.
  • About 5 years ago in my local Walmart, I saw the Purdue guy stocking both the name brand & the store brand packaged chicken pieces. I asked and he confirmed that their was no difference other than the labeling on the package. The quality was the exact same.

We quit buying GV diced tomatoes. We've tossed a lot of cans that have black things in the can. Probably bits of leaves from the tomato plant but we won't risk it. HF has two, sometimes three different part numbers for the same item. Most likely, as you suggest, made by different manufacturers. It allows them to better control what little quality is in their products amd weed out the poor performers. But they've upped their quality in recent years on some items.

GV Italian Sausage is made by Premio sausage. Paints are provided by Sherman Williams, chips are identical to Frito Lay, GV beef stew is made by Castleberry, GV pot pies are made by Banquet , the list goes on and on. In my area 75% of Gv bread contracts are filled by Flowers Baking company. if there is doubt, watch the recall notices. If you can get (roughly) the same product for less, why wouldn't you?

Do you know how to read the code on the bottle of W great value bleach? I don't know how to figure out the expiration date. It says 212000730L2

I used to get the nutri grain fruit bars and they started skipping out on the filling and put a thick layer of the grain bread on the bottom side so i figured I would try the great value brand and they were 5x better! And I usually don't care for off brand stuff and another good one is if you like Jiff peanut butter KROGER brand is very similar almost exact but not quite as creamy

SuperTech oil was tested by Project Farm and came out nearly on top compared to the brands that cost 3-5X more money.

One thing I hate that Walmart does is raise their name brand prices while lowering their great value prices…the discrepancy is so large that you really feel like you have no choice but by the generic version. This is like monopolizing the market. I wish Congress would hone in on those type of fraudulent business practices. Name brand product shouldn’t be twice the price of a generic version. Often I don’t want to buy great value version but it depends on the product. This is why I tend to avoid Walmart at times. Name brand prices are just far too pricey compared to other similar stores, most notably Costco which always makes name brand products affordable.
  • Hello, Man am I glad to find your web page. I have been searching for months for Great Value brand of flavored coffees in the pods or kcups. I was so disappointed when all my local Walmart stores stopped stocking the great value Triple Chocolate coffee in the kcup style. Do you have any clue who actually manufacturers it? And how I can contact them? Or how i can order it online?

Does anyone know who manufactures Great Value pudding (in cups, unrefrigerated, not the powder)? It blows Snack Pack and any other store brand I've tried out of the sky, but it's out of stock most of the time and is hardly ever available for shipping, so I'd love to know if I can get it anywhere else.
