That intro.. I was waiting for a little memorial to pop up with that black and white!! As always, great humor and valuable info
  • Amazing overview.... specifically, how to get LR to prompt for location. This has always been my pain point about the export dialog in LR. Thanks for sharing!

Good overview. Didn't know the DNG export - I don't have a personal need for it but it's nice to know it's available... thank you sir.

QUESTION - Exporting to DNG Format, can I use that to help reduce space on my computer from CR2 file formats? Just how much information is lost when going from a CR2 to DNG? Thanks!

I wonder if it is possible to set up lightroom to import only a small raw file or a jpg file for tethered shooting. And at the same time, leave the big files in the camera's SD card. My camera does not make smaller raw files.

very useful tricks ! I have a problem to export to photoshop to make a composite with a srgb or adobe 1998 files coming from external locations (istock, friends,...). lot of warning, some colors offset and sometimes i don't realize (ie: light brown becoming orange...) and come back to lightroom. color spaces,... are a nightmare. so finally i export in srgb from lightroom and make all things in photoshop in srgb but perhaps loose a lot of controls. I have the feeling that if Lightroom was like many softwares, working in adobe rgb it would be easier than prophoto.

I like to send my raw images (DNG) to someone. I always do it in JPG but DNG will be better so that person could edit them too. If I reduce the file size in export, does that mean will also reduce the quality of my picture?

I have been having this problem for 2 Mo. now. When I put my SD card in to import photos into my LRcc everything loads up but the box that lets you choose DNG, copy and so on at the bottom Right of the box it will show import or Cancel. All that is selectable is cancel. The import isn't even clickable it's what I call Grayed out ( un-selectable ) I just installed the latest Mac OS updates & the latest LRcc updates and still it won't work. I wonder if I can uninstall my LRcc and then re-install it from Adobe or will I lose my photos? Any help would be appreciated :-)

i need change image size of auto import in lightroom, help me please!!!
  • @donbodat
if you use option: export to select folder later (useful for presets) it will prompt you where you want to save the image ;-)

Tip 7; How to make LR automatically continue a sequence? For example: today I'm exporting lockdown23.jpg. Tomorrow I want Lightroom to automatically pick up and name the next file lockdown24.jpg and so on.
