  • you should do the video explaining the shaders in depth for the people that don't want to lug around a CRT. I appreciate all the effort you put into this series so far. its been extremally helpful.

My friend just asked me about some configuration stuff with RA. I'm working lots of extra hours this weekend. So glad I can just send him your video. Appreciate your time and vibe! [=

This was very informative, thanks man. For the many years I've been using RA, I've never messed with the latency settings. Latency has always felt fine to me on my PC and G-Sync monitor. Turns out that NES and SNES have a tiny bit of latency. Using run-ahead by 1 frame actually makes a noticeable difference. TurboGrafx-16 has 2 frames of latency, so pretty wild improvement there! Later today I'm gonna see how much latency I've been suffering from on arcade games. N64 and PS1 instantly crash when I use run-ahead, but that could be due to the CRT shader I'm using. It's the HSM Mega Bezel Reflection shader, and it is super heavy. It's by far my favorite shader. With a bit to tweaking, it can look absolutely stunning. I'd be happy to share my preset. EDIT: Had to switch from BSNES to Snes9x because run-ahead was causing lots of stutter. This sucks because I like to use 2x resolution in Mode 7 games like F-Zero. Oh well... Small price to pay. What kind of gamer would I be to pick resolution over control response?

I like to use the sharp-bilinear-simple shader for a sharp pixelated image without scrolling artifacts. It's a good option if you don't like the small image size of integer scaling.

Logan coming in with the dub! Great stuff mate!

Thanks dude you are awesome. Informative, helpful and humorous.
  • Awesome video, I am using Retro Arch on an Xbox Series X but this video has still been extremely useful. Can I ask a question. When I Manual Scan to create a playlist it asks for system name but my list is blank. Any idea's how I bring the system names into that list? Thanks and keep uploading dude.
  • @jrtomsic
commenting on an old video, but I'm very interested in the subject of crt shaders and what is your preference.
  • @alexh5845
Thank you for the detailed run throughout. I believe you answered four questions I had written down and was having a bit of trouble with, and made the rest of it streamlined, easy peazy lemon fuckin squeezie! Cheers
  • I have a wired snes and wired 6 button genesis but recently retroarch reads both devices as “6 button Saturn” how can I fix the snes controls in retroarch I’ve been messing with input settings all day and deleting auto config files
  • Can you set up different controllers for different cores? Example a 6 button sega type pad for arcade, sega md and saturn. An xbox pad for dreamcast, gamecube and driving arcade games? I’m having trouble finding this out

Hello my friend. Im messing with retro arch lately and i have some problem with controllers. I tried a official playstation4 controller and it works well except the rumble do not work in retro arch but works very well in pcsx2 emulator and i dont understand why . Ive installed the ds4 driver and every thing works except the vibration in retro arch. Also i tried a xbox 360 wired controller and retro arch seems to detect it but its not working but in others emulators like pcsx2 it works well. So maybe a video on how to make few different controller on retro arch could be a good idea if you like the idea . Thank for your good retro arch over view , i learned many good tips.
