t's early Sunday morning and this adult Pileated Woodpecker decides to go looking for breakfast. The snag he finds the grubs in is the worse for wear.

Wow... Beautiful footage! Especially admirable after just reading in a bird guide how shy they are. "Obtaining a close view of one usually requires careful stalking" it says. Very nice to see one this well after reading about it in a letter from a friend from near Boston. I live in the Netherlands and we don't have Pileated Woodpeckers here.
