  • FINALLY!!! Someone knows how to turn older videos into HD, has good musical taste, and posts them on YT.
  • Two of the best guitar players in the world. So glad I found this.

I am 72 yo & honored to have grown up in the age of Eric Clapton & Mark Knopfler! I will never stop loving them. 💯❤️❤️💯
  • @ClassicRock83
I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.

I am 66 and I am still a Rocker, in my own Rockin Chair!!!❤
  • Blessed for having been alive and old enough to watch it when it was first released. Double blessed for being young enough to find it again so freely available (kind of) on youtube. Those were the days, these are the days, my friend. Legends. Absolute Legends!!!!
  • Trying to compare Clapton to Knopfler to is like comparing oxygen to water. Why try? Equally important and impressive. Like comparing Hendrix to Van Halen. Quit wasting your time. All on the Top Shelf. No better, just different.

I saw Elton & Ray in 1980, Eric in 83 and Mark in 85 but all of them together? 🤯 My mind is blown... As much as I love Dire Straits It is a joy to see Mark play on these songs! Wow!

Never let it be said that Eric Clapton is not a vocal legend. A guitar legend no doubt, but he is such an incredible lead vocalist, too.
  • Nathan East the beast.. Maybe not on the same 'legendary level' as the two other legends, but man, he is such a contributor on the stage!
  • Really wonderful experience to see Knopfler playing support for Elton. Doesn't try to steal the show, just picks out beautiful notes to enhance Elton's performance. Fantastic musician, and knows what the music needs.

November 21, 1987 Eric went back to Hazleton for a 2nd treatment and returned home for Christmas. It’s interesting that he went right back into touring in 1988 sober now, and for the rest of his life. Here is some background information on the year of 1988 and the workload of the tour: (( BROADCAST RECORDING FROM ERIC CLAPTON S 25th ANNIVERSARY TOUR IN 1988 - FEATURING ELTON JOHN. Eric Clapton s 25th Anniversary Tour, featuring Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler among band members, was arranged to celebrate what was, in the late-1980s, Clapton s quarter century in the music business. Beginning on January 22, 1988 in Birmingham and ending on November 5 the same year in Osaka, the tour led through Asia, Europe and North America. Announced in December 1987 the tour quickly sold out and during 42 concerts, including four in Japan, 12 in the United Kingdom and 26 in the United States and Canada, Eric and band performed in front of more than 500,000 concertgoers, taking around 14 million US dollars in revenue. On November 2nd, the entourage performed at Japan s Tokyo Dome, for a show which was recorded for live broadcast on TV and FM radio, both in Japan and across the US. Elton John performed both solo on a couple of numbers during the concert, and alongside Clapton and band for several more songs. This entire gig is now presented on this 2CD Set in perfect quality for the first time. ))

Eric and Marc enjoying playing together makes the show all the more fun.
  • @dinkodinev
Knopfler is making a guitar excellence journey of his own

What makes Mr. Clapton such a very special luminary in the world that he inhabits is the enormous ammount of ground he has covered and is still covering. A bluesman at heart, he has additionaly written and performed some of the most diverse and beautiful songs to come from one artist over the past 50 some odd years. The years have caught up with him which is why it's wonderful to watch this 1988 concert from Tokyo with Mark Knopfler. Eric Clapton set the bar high and so many other performers work very hard in attempting to reach it.

1 hr 11m 22s into this Elton starts something magical and eventually shows us what a great piano player he is. Just look at the faces of Mark, Eric and Nathan as they enjoy letting rip with Elton. Magic! Fabulous. This is what playing music with other people is all about: Having super fun, rising to another level of existence and taking the audience with you :)
