Psychedelics like magic mushrooms have huge effects on the brain. But what are they doing up there? More than 180 species of "magic mushrooms" produce the psychoactive compound psilocybin. And ingesting it triggers some pretty trippy changes in the brain. Shrooms and many of these other psychedelic drugs show real promise for treating mental health issues and may result in breakthrough medications for psychiatric disorders.

Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.
  • When I’m on shrooms I get so overwhelmed with happiness I just can’t stop smiling. It feels amazing, I didn’t know it was possible to even be that happy

Psilocybin flipped the off switch on my social anxiety like a light switch. It's effect lasted long enough that I thought it permanent. My anxiety and doubts and lack of self worth was gone. Anything that can make you love yourself should be legal

Just had my first trip at home, came out a changed person and all it took was crying over killing a pig in minecraft, crying over stabbing a microwavable pot pie, having an indepth 30 minute conversation with my dog discussing animal cruelty and other general sins of mankind-- all while barely being able to stand up. 10/10

In my experience, most bad trips happen when you fight the effects. Ideally you want to give in to the effects and allow yourself to feel everything the experience presents to you, even if it is uncomfortable. It's usually trying to teach you something.

funny how shrooms are the most harmless drugs yet illegal however alcohol, the deadliest drug and a very addictive drug is legal and socialized smh

Mushrooms saved my life honestly. They helped me see the pure beauty in life, and made me realize how dumb it would be to take myself out.

Psychedelics dissolved 10years of my depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts in 10 minutes for me. When I opened my eyes I came back as a different me. All trauma has been dissolved before my very eyes. I understood what love and understanding truly meant and 9 months on, I've never experienced any of the depression and anxiety that plagued my existence beforehand. I saw every path that everyone had ever taken and why. It is the most profound experience of my life. Just my experience.

As someone who suffers from depression and anxiety shrooms really help me by giving me that “nothing matters just move on, just do what you want” mindset and made it a little easier to love myself and express myself through my style
  • yesterday was my 20th birthday, so my partner and i decided to trip on shrooms for the first time. i spent lots of time with her just giggling uncontrollably and drowning in the joy of her presence. i later found myself recollecting all of the traumatic memories of my childhood, feeling proud of how far i've come despite the incredible obstacles i'd faced as a kid. for so long i believed i'd kill myself before i turned 18, but here i am, two years later, with a beautiful partner and a house to call my own. with friends who love and support me. it was a beautiful feeling, and it helped me realize a lot.
