  • Jack’s brilliant because he’s less a musician than he is a celebration of music. He’s not setting out to be some virtuosic artist, he’s just serving us all the stuff that makes music fun on a platter.
  • He isn't just a good musician. He is a great entertainer. I think a lot of musicians forget about the showmanship aspect of performance

I've seen Tenacious D live during their acoustic tour. Just two guys and two acoustic guitars, nothing else.... and they blew the roof off! Not many artists can do that.
  • He has mastered the Sax-a-Boom, he is a musician of the highest caliber, LOL. Seriously, JB has serious musical chops!

I worked on the Tenacious D movie score and had the good fortune to see Jack conduct the orchestra for a few minutes - f’n hilarious how he cracked up the orchestra by acting like an prima dona conductor. Thank you Jack!

Aimee , you’ve done it, again! Turned a light on where there wasn’t enough sun….thank you for your consummate good taste, enthusiasm, curiosity and love….of all things music🎶
  • @Pyriander
Well, of course he is, he wrote the best song in the world. And a tribute to it.
  • The thing you gotta love about Jack Black is that he goes all-in on everything he does.
  • @TomBelknapRoc
I so want for this to happen. Jack and Aimee would be an unstoppable musical force in the galaxy. Or words to that effect.
  • Thanks for featuring Jack. I think he is very underappreciated as a musician. School of Rock is one of my favorite movies and I still watch it from time to time.

After that little movie "School of Rock" came along (which was really a blast to me), I felt like Jack Black become more than an actor but a kind of ambassador or a diffuser for the Rock Age.
  • @MechaJoezilla
He and Fallon did an amazing version of “More Than Words” by Extreme!

While I'm certain that Mr. Black is a very technically accomplished musician in many ways, the best thing about him is that he embodies (quite literally!) the sheer spontaneous joy of music and makes it an extension of life instead of a merely cerebral exercise. It doesn't matter how "simple," "complex," or "technical" any of it is. Life is all of those things, and it's all beautiful, and of course funny. Which is the way it ought to be.

Every solo by Pat Metheny is the best solo I’ve ever heard.

Love both Jack Black and Bobby McFerrin for the music they've brought to my life <3
  • Thanks Aimee, you are not only an amazing jazz musician and music interpreter, you're a great documentary maker.

I have a new appreciation for Jack black. Thanks for doing this video.

My opinion is that Jack Black is one of the best singers I've ever heard.

What really sets him apart, I think, is how he brings his acting talent into his music. His exceptional singing voice is the starting point, but lots of people can belt out the high notes - few if any of them have the precise diction, expressive versatility, and dramatic instincts of a world-class comic actor (and voice actor). He's in a category by himself in that way.

His guitar skills are a bit limited, but he gets the job done for his band.
  • So lovely to see musicians from different backgrounds supporting each other.
