NZ: Frosts ease back for showers/wind this weekend, frosts increase again next week

Frosty weather is back again tonight and may go as far north as Auckland and Northland before retreating this weekend rapidly due to a windier change moving in.

Many daytime temperatures are down at the moment and overnight lows near zero or subzero. But the windier weather this weekend will see some places jump with their overnight temperatures.

Next week, as high pressure moves in and over the top of the country we can expect colder nights again and most frosts, especially in the lower three quarters of the nation.

  • Thank you for your very positive forecast which seems to be always on point. Keep warm, beautiful day in Christchurch after a mean frost.
  • Stunning day again here in Waikato, although it was a cold start this morning. Thanks for your updates

Hi Phil, just got back to NZ from South America (must be nice). Feels chilly in the south for sure. Thanks for the forecast Cheers
  • Can you please talk about how a sudden warming of stratospheric warming in Antartica later this month will effect NZ

In Dunedin, I find this winter's weather to be quite boring... I really look forward to the big elongated lows but the slow moving highs in the Australian bight and over their East Coast just seem to screw them up all the time. I want a nice real winter blast please! (Not one of those little clickbait "Polar blasts") Oh yeah, big ups to Invers!
