The last theory blew my mind!

Melchizedek is a man who served as King of Salem, later known as Jerusalem. His name means king of righteousness and his position is not only king but also priest of the God most high. His one physical appearance in scripture is very interesting and what is said about him later adds more depth to the mystery.

  • By the way... Did anyone notice where the image of the crowd in the thumbnail is from? A recent DreamWorks film 🤔

The passage of Melchizedek meeting Abram (at the time) in the field where he confronted the king of Sodom after he had captured Lot is pretty incredible... What two items does Melchizedek bring? Bread. Wine. The sacraments of communion. He prepares Abram a table... in presence of his enemies.

“Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” John 8:58

Imagine only being mentioned a couple times in the Bible, yet being one of the most important people in the Bible.
  • The idea of Melchizedek as a theophany of Christ is very interesting. When Jesus tells the pharisees that He knows Abraham and He would have rejoiced to see this day, I've always kind of pictured that as Abraham and Jesus interacting in heaven. The idea that it could have been recalling the moment with Melchizedek is one I hadn't considered.
  • “Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad”. John

Good word, brother. A brief and well thought out examination of the King of Salem and Jesus! Praying for your ministry to continue to grow!
  • One might notice that in Matthew 22:43 - 45, Jesus references Psalm 110. In doing so, he brings the entire psalm into the minds of those he is debating with. I believe that the reference to Melchizedek is implied in this reference, and I think it is part of why Jesus' statement was such an argument ender.
  • Very well done. I applaud you for presenting the viewpoints of both sides objectively.

Subscribed! Thanks for this, very interesting and surprised I overlooked Melchizedek in my study
  • I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a pre-incarnate Jesus. He’s revealed himself in the OT before like in the furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. There certainly is reason to believe this theory
  • Remember that Jesus said in John 8 from verse 56 to 58. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Just discovered your channel much deserved sub awesome work-God bless
  • @Watchman_Jay
I think Jesus also confirms it when He says “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” - Jhn.8:56.
