Whether you call it a vision, mission, or Just Cause - in order to be worthy of usage, it must be these three things:
- Resilient: able to withhold cultural or economic change
- Inclusive: put into words that inspire us
- Service-oriented: the primary benefactor cannot the contributor

Most of what we all should remember is that without God in our hearts we going nowhere ( not matter what we do .)

Best definition of Vision I have run across... "A picture of the future we seek to create." Simon's vision aligns with that statement.

Vision is what you see for the future, Mission is what you do for that future.
  • Very well said Simon: Vision is what you imagine it has to be a just cause and pass the following test: 1-Resilient- Your vision can withstand the cultural, political and technological change. 2-Inclusive - The very words that you choose are an invitation to those who believe what you believe whether they are internal or external or an invitation to those who would like to contribute to what you believe I.e it must be open to everyone to feel part of the cause. 3-Service Oriented - In all relationships there is always a benefactor and contributor. And the primary benefit should always go to those other than the contributors. As a leader you should not make a decision to enrich yourself. You have to  make decisions to help those you lead. You can make money etc but not as a primary benefit.

In school, we are taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, we are given a test that teaches us a lesson 😊

Vision: what you see or imagine. Mission: how to get it and bring it to others.

This was beyond powerful. Exactly what I needed. Thanks Simon!
  • From a personal perspective, I found this really interesting and love the points raised. Ultimately, if we work to be in servitude to the needs of others, not only are we more likely to succeed from a financial perspective, but we offer something to help enrich our world around us

I'm as confused as that old man. To me, it's simply the following: Mission is "why" you start a business - purpose. Vision is "where" you see the business going - goals. "How" to get it is the action plan - strategy. Good value system will keep the business inclusive, resilient and consistent.
