I am a Croatian (Hrvat) and I am tankful to you for this video. Very affirmative and accurate. Necktie 's real name is Cravate from name of a French cavalry unit called "Royal Cravates" . and that piece of cloth around soldiers neck was a first bandage. even the knot is made in that way that can be unwrapped with one hand. that knot is a key feature of a cravate, without it cravata is just common "neck tie" as you said.
  • our women tied a piece of fabric around their men's necks, as a love statement and a reminder. - To wear a fabric "a la croata" French did saw as fashion statement - even more because of story behind it. A tie in Croatian is "Kravata" similar to "Croata" which gives us international name: Croatia. Localy is "Hrvatska"

In America there is every European ancestry represented. In high school and college I met people from Greece, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Poland, Ireland, Serbia, Lithuania, Mexico, Sweden, Russia. All Europeans live in the USA. Little Italy is in New York and Illinois. Where I live in Indiana there are church communities from Serbia, Greece, Russia, Italy, Poland. Last week I attended the Greek festival. Next up is the Serbian festival, then Little Italy in Chicago. Italian American, from Florence

Mario Andretti is Italian born in Istra. He's like Nikola Tesla, Serb from Lika.

Correction - it was not the Dayton peace accord which ended the Homeland war in Croatia, it was the military operation "Oluja" which liberated the Bosnian City of Bihac before it became another Srebrenica. The thorough defeat of Serbian forces occupying Croat territory forced the Serbs to the negotiating table and bought a misguided peace to Bosnia. Even the USA has realized that they should have let Croat and Bosnian forces liberate Banja Luka thus ending the self proclaimed Republika Srpska. Now you have a Bosnia that is almost totally dysfunctional as a State.
