This desk was built for a client who wanted a really Big, Modern, L Shaped, Corner, Executive Desk...and I think we ticked all of the boxes. It is made out of walnut and measure about 100 inches along one length, and 112 inches along the other. So too big for most people's rooms. For that reason we didn't make plans for this desk, but we have plans for a different desk and plenty of other woodworking projects on our site.

The author does like to youtube.com/post/UgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2… from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

“Above all else, the top.” Besides the stunning furniture design, beautiful videography, and soothing voiceovers, I live for the puns from this channel. Also loved the Helvetica reference. Great work all around.
  • @Oliur
This is such a boss desk. Now I just need to find a local workshop that can make one for me.
  • @HiddenThicket
I'm sure it's been said before, but this channel has the same voiceover vibe as Baumgartner Restoration, and I'm living for it.

so entertaining! As someone who doesn't have a single bit of experience with woodworking, I appreciate you taking the time to explain your tools, reasoning, and basic terminology. This video alone opened my eyes to the details like the flow of the grain from side to side as well as the edge within an edge thing, that was cool.

Your work is always so cool. It's part of the reason I've become so obsessed with modern and mid century modern furniture. I have a feeling that in 20/30/60 years, your pieces will be on that antique road show. An original four eyes coffee table/dresser/different coffee table/different dresser.
  • @Saphia_
As a student of architecture, your pieces inspire me more than the majority of architecture I've seen. Funny how different technical-but-creative fields work with each other.

Fantastic, as always, work from you two. Regarding the use of pocket holes, just prior to watching this video I was watching Ishitani's latest video and seeing how he attached stretchers under his table and it was mind blowing how well it was done, but is also meant to be seen. Pocket holes were perfectly fine in your fine furniture piece and the mechanical fasteners perform well there.

Thank you! I am also in the middle of a corner desk build. I've done the two mitered top parts and I was designing how to join them together and how to properly support the top across the seam between the two parts. I was thinking of all kinds of crazy things, but now I think using dominos without glue plus dogbone connectors to join the two parts of the top, and supporting the weight using a leg that connects at the back corner where the two tops meet would be sufficient.

If you’re open to the idea something we use at the shop I work for is to apply p-lam laminate to our work table tops. The laminate is really good at not letting glue stick to it. After there is glue you can scrap it off and just it the surface with a quick sand if it’s too hard to scrap. Once it’s to thin(which takes a long time) it’s easy to use more contact cement and just apply a new layer. It’s been a great surface to work on and saves time during glue ups not working about tape or mats.
  • It isn't often one sees such fine woodwork. This table and all your designs are worthy of Museum Display!

I was excited to see the render of the Desquire as an l shaped desk. I asked you about it like a year ago and you were kind enough to answer some questions for me. Haven't had a chance to build it but I will someday. I feel seen! Great video, as always.
  • You weren't lying, that thing is huge! Love that you went all in with hardwood for everything. Awesome job gents!
  • @oftankoftan
I can tell it's taken you a long time to acquire the skills to make this. But what's also difficult is to explain and show the process so a layman like me understands. 10/10

Absolutely gorgeous desk. Found your channel recently and really have been enjoying the teaching nature of the information. Excellent content
  • Love it. In fact putting a gouty Christmas tree of a computer next to it seems a shame. You got designs for a wood computer case to match.

Never seen a sneaker head wood worker lol 🤙🏾🤙🏾

WOW!!! This comment section is not sufficient for telling you how much this video helped my with problem solving a corner desk project on which I'm working. Thank you!
  • @toddsmash
I snorted when that off cut fell out of the sky after a two scene transition in the video. You guys make very slick looking content and I hope some day I'm as good.
