"Society strongly values certain artistic talent so much that they will overlook fairly pronounced characterological flaws in order to create a false hero." - best line and a fantastic analysis.

I really wish I got to hear Dr. Grande say, "Ski Mask the Slump God"
  • @SauceyNoodle
I like how Dr. Grande isn’t afraid to broaden his range when it comes to the people he covers in videos
  • @TheSnoozeFox
X is a perfect example of being a product of your environment, towards the end he knew how messed up he was but never got the chance to turn it around, very sad imo.

“It’s almost like his music career interfered with his life of crime.” That is amusing, but also rings so true. Also, it was a very interesting observation that the type of music he sang had to come from a place of experience, I never thought of that.

I was introduced to x and his music through my kids. His music is really good. There is doubt he was a rare talent and his message resonated because it is genuine and represents the experiences of a significant number of youth. It is rare to find an artist of any kind that is stable and plays well with others. I love Dr G, but I think what he is missing here is that X was really starting to talk about turning his life around and had taken some observable steps. He was not killed as a result of any drug or gang activity and in that particular situation had done nothing more than shop for a motorcycle with cash and was jumped by 4 people trying to steal money that he had earned through his Music. We really don’t know what kind of person or role model he would have become as he does too young. We just know he was a person who was exposed to crime and violence his whole life as as Dr G pointed out, he had to attempt to use violence to protect his mother at 6 years old. He did a lot of Bad stuff, but genuinely seemed to be trying towards the end. I wish he could have lived long enough to get past 27, straighten his life out, proceed to make terrible music, and be an actual role model.

what about that tekashi dude? He's playing the same ballpark.

I love a person with the ability to stick to the facts and gather an opinion based solely upon facts. No one can argue with facts. One of my favorite channels💚

X had a difficult start and the destruction that followed him was proof....you can see it in his music at the beginning he was soo angry and although he was turning things around he had a lot of issues.
  • @ramqueen09
Music tends to play a huge impact on someone psychology. Excusing someone's criminal acts because they love their songs is alarming.
  • @AshLoRo
The majority of Xxxtentacions songs, was about love & heart Break. He was 20 years old when he died, He was practically a Kid. He had changed, as we all do when grow and begin our maturity. Rest In Peace Jah
  • An opposite side of the coin of this rapper lifestyle would be someone like Kendrick Lamar and how he rose above the lifestyle
  • @kaytee7607
A very fair assessment of the kid. I am one of those people that noticed a change in his behaviour, too bad we didn’t see more.
  • @BbyDAp
Never thought Dr Grande would do a video on X
  • @ELECTECHNUT
My only thought regarding this person is... What if he had a better childhood? It's tragic and pathetic that violent lives / deaths are a genre. Thank you for your insights Dr. G. 😉

Marshall Mathers (Eminem) | mental health & personality, Dr Grande?
  • As a man who's parents didn't properly care for me or my siblings, I always saw a lot of similarities in myself and Jahseh. I had a pretty rough childhood too and really had to prove myself to people who would protect me and my younger brothers. I was lucky enough to find a way out and grow from my early life experience and I wish Jahseh had that same chance. RIP X

I have to admit - I was one of those people who thought of xxxtentacion as a musical genius murdered before his time. I remember where I was when it was first reported that he died. I was heartbroken. After time went in and I realized the kind of shit he’d been involved in I no longer saw him solely as a victim. Very rarely does anyone deserve to die the way he did, but that doesn’t mean I condone his actions. He was a lost soul and made bad choices. We al have choices regardless of our upbringing. He did not make good ones. 😔

Not all rappers discuss violence in their music, but those that do sell records like crazy!! This is America!
