Well dangit, I'm a fool. The image I used to show Marcille taking her hair down is actually an incredible fanart by xuroky, which is basically a recreation of the panel in a higher resolution with some added detail. (In my haste, I didn't realize because it looks so much like the original!) Here's a link to the original post, which I'll also put in the description: xuroky.tumblr.com/post/656613889507753984/casually… And thanks to everyone who pointed it out!
  • @DarthBHorse
love that the anime team added another dwarfsticles shot
  • @cipher8523
not including the shot of marcille letting down her hair is a crime
  • I was worried about whether or not trigger was going to fanservice up the bathhouse scene and while there are some slight alterations from the manga that definitely make it a teeny bit more fanservice-y it's very funny to me that they then followed up with the most intense anime-original senshi pantyshot yet. Honestly props to Trigger for deciding that if he's the fanservice vehicle of the series then they're damn well going to commit to that fanservice.

10:14 Falin has been able to see ghosts since childhood, in the anime there was that flashback when Liaos & Falin went to that cemetery and Falin could tell that the ghost wanted his ring or smth back
  • I love the detail when Falin is newly resurrected she closes her left eye and holds her throat because those actions where performed by the dragon. Since the meat used to resurrected Falin was the dragons the dragon lives on in Falin and since the dragons last movements were being stabbed in the eye and throat the dragon is in shock (I hope that makes sense)
  • @samfisher6606
It's a small detail but I really like that Marcille’s feet are covered in blood. Also, Kensuke said, "Put up yo dukes!"
  • @tossingturnips
I'm so glad to get context on Chilchuck's outburst about wastefulness. It drove me crazy thinking I had missed something.

4:53 It says, “These parts aren’t the same as indicated in the art direction, but I want it to be like this please. Thank you.” The note insinuates that this building’s (and probably others’) architectural details were indicated in the art direction guideline for continuity.
  • A nice touch I loved with the resurrection scene was the slightly yonic design to the dragon corpse, to highlight Falin's 'rebirth' and underline the uncomfortable feeling (since most people get weirded out by birthing imagery).
  • @Ezekiel_Allium
I will say I don't think Falin's ghost seeing has anything to do with her resurrection, I've always interpreted it more that having a special connection to the dead is like, her thing. The cemetary backstory moment, the conversation about her being an extremely skilled excorsist who can effortlessly put the dead to rest in a peaceful way, etc. EDIT: The above was in reference to something in the video that was snipped out, I swear I'm not crazy, you can find other comments referencing this. GG you dastardly armadillo, the perfect counter to having a flaw in your video pointed out is to simply make your critics look insane (for clarity this is a joke, I don't actually care that much, it's just very funny) Anyways MILT (Man I love Thistle) MOMENT

i'm no big-time anime director or anything but it seems to me that the imagery of marcille running her bloodsoaked fingers through her hair, a critical aspect of her magic power, right before she cast a foul, unholy spell was an important detail and they probably shouldn't have cut it
  • @LuckyDayWorks
Incredible amounts of birth imagery in this episode, even Falin being swaddled at the end covered in blood. She's becoming something new. Noticing that your editing is getting crisper, great stuff.

The removal of the panel where Marcille takes down her hair is almost MORE disappointing because of the new huge focus on her hair animation in the ritual itself. Feels like a real missed opportunity to show her delicately taking it down to remind the audience to pay attention to it in that moment, and remember the importance of hair for magic in the world, before having these scenes. The animation speaks for itself quality wise but having that Little Extra build up to it would have been even better… Also it’s just a bizarrely prominent panel to take out, it’s so iconic. Loving the anime adaption, but that panel removal, and the cutting of Namari explaining resurrection limitations to the twins are the only things that have stood out to me so far as questionable decisions. 🧐
  • @lauranh8954
i really appreciate your animation breakdowns; it helps me engage with the media more. i cant tell if you were joking about falin seeing ghosts "now". Her being able to see ghosts was the first bit of magic she could do. Its an innate talent she has. Even when Laios starts using magic, he can see spirits no one else can.
  • Falin's bounciness is such good character animation. You get such a good immediate feel for who she is from that. And I adored the scene where Laios scolded Falin, then embraced her. You could feel how intensely he cares for her, and how seriously he takes his responsibility to protect her as her big brother.
  • @alicebnuuy6155
i love the fact that marcile is super disappointed that falin is just as weird about monsters as her brother is.
  • I really like the dragon and skeleton frames too, because it presented in a way that makes it look like the dragon birthed Falin. Also, fun fact, but I’m pretty sure the illustration you used of Marcille undoing her hair is actually fanart! (Even if there is a hair undoing panel in the manga). And yeah, like someone else mentioned, I don’t think Falin seeing ghosts is linked to her resurrection, as we know from their backstory that she has a predisposition to the occult! Amazing breakdown as always ✨ thank you for the hard work!
  • @lalala1452
The text during 4:48 basically means “This part does not follow the art direction, but I want to do it like this. Thanks for the help in advance.” Disclaimer : this is only based on my limited Japanese knowledge and translation tools, please correct me if I’m wrong!!
  • @bbittercoffee
I feel so vindicated that I'm not the only one disappointed that they didn't include Marcille letting down her hair Especially after reading all of the manga you start to pay more attention to the significance of her hair, it's SUCH a good moment
