As someone whose roots are deeply in Southern rural black culture, it’s nice to see that given some appreciation. My family has been farming for generations. They own horses and cattle, participate in trail rides, rodeos. My family hunts, fishes and so on. It seems like only the only black people are ones who live inner cities and suburbs. Sometimes rich ones.. Rarely do I see black country folk. We are not monolithic.

Beyoncé, when this came out I was homeless, in and out of jail, and unhealthy. Now I have a house, a good job, and a husband. This song and “Clover Cage - The Secret Of Life” are the two songs that helped with my depression. I just want everyone to know things will get better. We are in this together. I love you ❤

Beyonce is a rare artist in that she can embrace the different genres and sound authentic. She respects them. The music. Beyonce Is so deeply talented that she can pull off anything. And look amazing doing it. This is an icon at work. Like most of the music work and the everyday world I do respect this woman.

I don't care about the video. I grew a cowgirl on a farm., rodeoing almost every weekend and I love this song. I don't care about color of skin or what your upbringing was. If you're good, you're good. She sounds more country than alot of the country singers out there and she's from Texas. That's enough for me lol.
