  • I enjoyed the Regia perfecta yarn by Arno and Carlos was soft and fun. The yarn gives you 2 matching socks by pulling a yellow yarn till it stops and the next color starts. That is when you start the sock. When done with one sock they give you so much extra for large feet so you have to pull till the yellow starts again. Pull yellow from the stein till next color starts again and start next sock. Match exact.
  • I have just discovered your posts. This one was very helpful as I am always on a yarn budget. But that's ok because I knit for fun and it is also fun to shop for bargains. Just today I found some Regia in a thrift store!
  • @am_cosmos
I have progressed to the sicko stage of "yes I will walk into a yarn store and become enamored with the beautiful $36 skein of sock yarn and buy it" of sock knitterdom. Cannot resist walls of The Wandering Flock, Luminous Brooklyn, and TreLiz.
  • @Croch80HD
WYS, Opal, Drops and Regia are available online at wool warehouse! They have a huge variety of affordable sock yarns. I'm in Louisiana, but no LYS 😪 So, I rely on websites for good yarn
  • Cascade heritage has 'Prints' which are a self striping / fair isle type yarn and "wave" which is a slow change gradient where each ply slowly changes colors. The wave is probably better for larger projects unless you like fraternal socks or were planning on two knee high socks or something that uses more than one skein. Prints seem to be in collections or seasonal or something and colors changed out every so often sort of like felici, but not constantly. They keep the same colors for a couple of years, then introduce a dozen or so news ones. But, one of the bigger things to note is that some of the stripe repeats are quite long and may have similar parts, but with different length stripes. So it can be harder to have exact matching socks for people that are picky about that sort of thing.
  • I use a superwash merino wool mixed with nylon from my local shop (Hot Springs Fiber Co.) called seriously socks. They are very tightly twisted and hand dyed with beautiful colors. They are on the pricey side but so soft and durable I truly love it. They breath super well and wick sweat away nicely as someone who works on their feet 10 hours a day and sweat like a pig
  • @tmkoson
Probably has been said but Perfect Pair by Loops & Thread is discontinued. I was just looking for it this afternoon.
  • I just discovered your channel today. I love that you put bookmarks on your videos. Make it so I can watch leisurely or get to what I need. Thanks! I am on video #3 as I finally am repicking up a sock that has been languishing.
  • @Kaddel
Im at the beginning but just looking at the Regia triggers nostalgia. My grandmother knitted socks for us every year from this yarn. Most of them i still use (the ones i didn'tgrow out of)! Some are nearly 10 years old!
  • @Rop6ckc
I have used almost all the yarns you featured. I was not thrilled with the Threads & Loops. The stitches were not symmetrical--right leg slanted to right, left leg straight up and down. Really prefer working with wool. Thanks for your recommendations.
  • @courtclimbs
Just here from Channel Makers to say congrats on making another of Nate's videos and also congrats on your growing sub count! :)
  • @goldfrog0
I love Patons' Kroy, however I have noticed that its like a 1+ yarn size, its slightly larger than a 1, I am unsure if its related to the twist or not though!
  • @beepbopboop3221
Kroy will get you a pair out of 1. The base socks pattern on the lable is for a sock with a midshin keg for size 7 foot. I made my daughter size 9 without and issue getting both socks. Patons is also american wool.
  • I always learn so much from your podcast. They are so educational. I have a question I learning to make colorwork socks. I have large ankle but a normal size foot. I am size 3 needles and I am knitting inside out but still the sock does not fit. Can you suggest any book where I can read about making colorwork socks that fit me. Please, thank you in advance. CGuzman
  • If it goes in the washing machine and doesn't felt, I cannot use that wool. Unfortunately for me, I'm allergic to whatever they use to keep it from felting. I've used the cozy toes for baby socks via crochet. I like it, but it is stretchy, so if you have a deaths grip tension, this yarn will not play nice. I have not had any knot issues(I've found 2), and I've made almost 2 dozen pairs of baby socks.
  • @judygrayson7896
I just got the WYS yarn but feels a bit finer than other yarn’s especially custom yarn. I am struggling if I should go up or down a yarn size. I think larger might be better. Any suggestions on these thinner feeling yarn?
  • @misselanys1219
Im allergic to wool so I have been using non-wool from Hobby Lobby Cozy Toes and Michaels Perfect Pair. This past month I have found out that they both discontinued the non wool sock yarns and are upping the prices of the wool content socks yarns by nearly double! What is happening in the United States with all these discontinued products left and right and the out of stock products which are not being restocked? Its disturbing!
