There are so many other places he should have gone in the UP! The beautiful Pictured Rocks near Munising is awe inspiring. Kitch-iti-kipi near Manistique is a hidden gem. Waterfalls are great up north, as well.
  • go to the porcupine mountains!!! you will not be disappointed in the slightest, it is absolutely breathtaking!!!

To be honest, this clip does not do it justice. Even better and prettier in person.

2:44 starry skies, and howling wolves. 🤩That is quite the wilderness mood.

I would like to visit Upper Peninsula before I die. I'm from Finland.

I crossed that bridge around 1972 and never looked back, it is a place that takes me away from the rest of the busy World, it is not easy to live in the UP but the rewards...oh the rewards. There is sooo much more to see! Your journey started at Marquette if you do choose to come back make sure to check out the other 60% of the UP! We are waiting!🙂

Can’t believe Pictured Rocks wasn’t featured.
  • Bonesy and Chris were both people I've met in Copper Harbor. Really great down to earth people with a passion for the U.P.

I really want to visit Isle Royale and camp there. I was lucky enough to visit Mount Bohemia last winter and loved our road trip through the UP. Great documentary btw, thanks for sharing.

My great grandparents were Michettis, Italian immigrants from Tourin who settled in Calumet where my great grandfather worked in the copper mines. I loved it the first time I was there. I love to stay in the motel in Copper Harbor that has just simple turn locks-- like a bathroom -- on its rooms. But the rooms are all along the lakeshore. Were it not for the harsh winter, I would live there. I have been to many shores around this country and the shore of Lake Superior is my favorite. I long to be there...

My parents went exploring and there are some beautiful hidden waterfalls. I heard that it is one of the few mostly unadulterated places in USA.
  • I have a Cabin in Paradise Michigan - Have been going since I was a kid. The UP is truly comparable to a more accessible and safer Alaska with it beautiful landscape. If you've never been I highly encourage you to go during the summer!
