  • Yes audio is weird again. Sigh. Just listen with speakers instead of buds if you don't want to be annoyed. Just trying my best here folks.

I just bought one 3 days ago and I really like riding it. One of the main reasons is the “step through” design. At 80 I’m appreciating that.
  • I see a touring bike. Step-through bikes can be incredibly handy for loaded touring, or if you have a milk crate attached to the rear rack. The dropper would also allow the rider to stabilize a loaded bike at stop lights or when fussing with gadgets or bags. Not a bike for Cat-6ing, but a great bike for grocery-getting, locking and leaving, rear-loaded touring with bottles mounted the forks, semi-shredding the single-track, and chillaxing.

Definitely want to see more builds like this from the bike industry

I'm surprised you didn't comment more on the very reasonable gearing. It seems almost directly aimed at getting a PathLessPedaled Approved™ sticker. Except for the weight it's pretty impressive at that price.

"Not for those with a fragile sense of masculinity" is top level!
  • I just bought this exact bike a week ago! I absolutely love it. It’s a really nice looking beefy hybrid bike and rides very comfortable. Very happy so far with my purchase. 👍🏻

My LBS told me that a lot of the dropper posts he installs on bikes are for older folks who have trouble getting on their bikes. Seems like a lot people don't realize the uses for droppers beyond mountain biking.
  • My late brother would have LOVED this bike. It checks every box for what he wanted in a bike — assuming he could get a Wald basket on the front. Steel, big tires, and, yes, step-thru. He rode a 1974 step-thru Raleigh Sprint for quite some time until the frame failed. For $1050, I might have even bought it for him. Of course, getting any specific bike right now is purely theoretical, so....
  • Love seeing the funky bikes that are hard to fit into a specific category.

"It's goofy fun." We agree. Thanks for taking our Larkspur 2 out for a spin!
  • @BruceChastain
I like this just for the simple reason that it’s something different.

I bought this bike about 2 months ago to avoid the bus to work in these covid times. At a price of £895 in came in considerably cheaper on the UK ride to work scheme. I love it and it has turned a few cyber heads with my son’s gravel biking mates when he reports our joint rides on social media. With a 51T large gear on the back, I can easily get up hills and the dropper post is a godsend enabling me to touch the ground at the many traffic lights I encounter. Having not cycled for many (many many) years , this bike has given me the bottle to start again and keep going.

My sister lives in the town of Larkspur in Marin County. I can totally see this bike being ridden around town and the gravel roads in that area. Very cool
  • @cuzinmike
Seems like a great, affordable multisurface all-rounder. Definitely shades of the Rivendell Clem Smith in both form and purpose. Thanks for continuing to review bikes like this.
  • @robinheil
This is like a Dutch bike on steroids. I love it

I had a Marin larkspur 20 years ago!! I like the update!!
  • That is one unique beutiful looking bike. If you keep it in good condition I am sure 30 years from now some bike enthusiast will pay premium for it. Credit to Marin for making it.
  • Been waiting for this review. Such a wonderfully weird rig. The ultimate party pace bike! Thanks!
