This Zelda means so much to me ;-; played it when I was 11 and i had such a blast never really minded the controls. After that I started playing it with my dad cause the doctor recommended him playing videogames so he healed from his brain surgery faster we played a little but he died a year after without going that far in the game but it was one of the best experiences i had with him

  • Skyward Sword had a unique distance rendering system. Farther objects become soft round pixilations, giving a feeling of Impressionism. The art style choice fits that rendering system. They actually worked on the quality of it in the HD version. A lot of people never noticed the Impressionism art style, but that's what gave Skyword Sword it's unique feel and soft, chill vibes.

"I don't think Nintendo ever intended anyone to hold down L all the time" ....cut to me, a insane person, who only used L to look around the entire game.

The art style is inspired by Impressionism. They've even applied it to depth of field in a mini bokeh kinda way. Nintendo is pretty good at using art style to cover up their consoles' weaknesses, which help the games' graphics hold up pretty well in the future.
  • This was the first zelda game I ever got. Never beat it. Now I'm steam rolling through the game with no guides except for one puzzle so far and I'm absolutely loving it! It's such a huge nostalgia trip and since I never finished it, most of the game is still fresh to me. I love it!

I re-played Skyward Sword on the Wii more recently of this year before this release. The motion controls on the Switch were way more smooth and enjoyable, more convenient also with the calibration by just pressing Y. I didn't like using button controls much to be honest but was great to have that option.
  • @fleckeld7535
I never had a single problem with the motion controls. Pressing Y didn't bother me then again it might just be because I didn't move much when playing
  • @TailsKade
I had no issues with the motion controls, I just ended up pushing Y like a couple thousand times while playing :)

Gotta say, that ending with you talking about the time line gave be chills. Well done
  • @AuxFace056
I think this is an experience that will vary depending on the player, cause my experience was pretty smooth. Although, it should be mentioned that I used the y-button reset a lot.

“More confused than a chameleon in a bag of skittles.” Much pain. Proper reference about the gyro controls 😹
  • Controlling the Loftwing with motion controls reminded me of BOTW gyro shrines 🥵

I hear people say they didn't like the world below the clouds because it was too linear. But I remember the idea was to take some of the parts people love about dungeons and bring it to the over world. Think about the volcano area you had to figure out how to make your way a certain location. It wasn't a direct path. You had find those mitts to dig around in the ground. Or fight a mini boss to get past a bridge over the lava. The time stones in the desert area were a lot like dungeon puzzles.

I found that the orientation of the controller itself was the most important part. Stuff like flying reacts extremely well with very minor movements. Large movements completely throw it off

Best intro, I just finished playing Skyward Sword myself and really enjoyed the HD version of the game - took a while to get used to the button control but after that it was totally fine, I bought the zelda amiibo and didn't even use it once
  • @blob4477
The intro is the best thing I’ve ever seen well done
  • @ethanh13
The way you thought about botw 2 being a part of the cycle is genius and I never would’ve thought of that and now I’m even more excited about the sequel. That actually makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. Anyway great vid
