In 1898 hunting, skinning and cooking animals was the number one way to survive. Seeing as our characters are fresh out of jail and they have NO income. They NEED to hunt. Harriet comes from a rich family so she can AFFORD not to eat meat and hunt. She's never had to work for her food or know what it's like not having any money. I know she camps out in the woods but who's not to say she gets provisions from her rich family?
