this feels like one of those bizarre dreams that means the world to you while its happening but forget a few minutes after waking up
  • The company was able to take something penny loved (fighting/roughhousing) and turn it into a monotonous and soulless task. having her do the same thing every day, only the joy of fighting is removed because instead of being a playful activity the company pushes her to her limits. As she goes on penny learned that she is easily replaceable, and not truly valued as the company originally made it seem. They work her until she is horribly injured and can't continue on producing the quality of work she had originally. So they replace her with a fresh clone, and start the process over again. By the time OG penny reaches the clone she is injured and has already lost all hope as Penny had. Recognizing the clones hopelessness, she frees her instead of killing her. It probably will not break the cycle, as even that clone was replaceable. But she was able to reclaim her identity, she now knows that she is worth more than the work she produced at the company, and she is able to move on with her life. It didn't help that her father was work obsessed, pushing the idea that work is the most important thing in someone's life. Even though The father seemingly has no job or hobbies of his own. Other than rewatching the same thing on the TV over and over again. He pushes on this toxic mentally he either wishes he had or wants to pass on to penny. While he's blind to how it affects her. As always, I love all of Vewns videos. Always so thought provoking and well crafted. Will definitely be rewatching this over and over for the next few days

i love how every location is drawn at an angle or drawn as if everything is further away. hell some parts look like you're somehow looking down on that location while being in the location. and it all portrays anxiety, depression and dissacosiation so well, amazing

I feel so bad for the characters in Vewn's animations, I wish they could all have a happier ending but of course, in real life it never does seem to be that way. poor cats
  • I love how in the scenes by the table and hospital, despite the fact that the table and room are small, vewn chooses perspective that makes it seem as though Penny and her father are physically far away from each other, just like they are emotionally distant.

It really sucks that penny’s stuck in a cycle in such a toxic environment trying to make their dad proud, only to end up covering mistakes with even worse things. Idk there’s just something eerie with how things are suddenly back to “normal” after penny almost died trying to save themselves.

i didnt understand shit, but still, the animation and the sheer work put onto this is incredible, the way the music blends in with everything, and even just the tiny little details like the sounds playing in bpm with the music, i love this
  • @juicecat-hv8ut
I love how the dad isn’t questioning her job through the whole film

I like how tiny Vewn’s characters are in comparison to everyone and everything else around them, I can’t exactly describe the feeling it gives off but it certainly is despairing
  • I like how Penny choosing to free the clone rather than kill her is kind of like breaking the cycle of violence.

I 100% feel like you should pitch this or any ideas you have to adult swim! They thrive off of content like this and the world needs more creativity like yours

"Wanna see a dead body?" This is odly relatable.
  • She’s literally putting her body and sanity on the line just like the blue cat just for approval and money and all the while she hides the stress it truly puts her through and being easily replaceable once she’s not needed making the sufferings she’s endured almost meaningless in a way
  • @8illy
13 minutes of vewn???? its a good month

I'm not sure how to articulate what i want to convey, but Penny and how she immediately was on the defense about labor (productivity) from her father resonated with me, and how she took a job into a field that can literally kill her, just to satiate that desire to not be seen as a failure. But ultimately in the end it's all a cyclic pattern despite the grief, anguish, efforts it is all self defeating.

At 30 this hits home. You know the truth, but can you stop it when your family buys in? Love the multi levels on this- and the scratch pen style. The use of distorting space with the perspective is on point!
  • i like how the dad is cool and patient even though he's emotionally distant from penny. its a nice juxtaposition
  • What a wild and good ride, and there is so much care put into everything
