“Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say.” -Snowden

All of a sudden, people who consciously live off the grid don't seem paranoid or crazy anymore
  • Everyone is about 15 years too late. If the public knows about all this, imagine how far they’ve actually gone.

I love how this episode makes it appear as if the us gov is entirely against this when they literally have an entire agency dedicated to doing this to their own citizens. Even passed a law to do it. Just completely ignored that.

Social media in itself has evolved into nothing more than a monitoring / surveillance system. My only question: is it more lucrative as an advertising platform, or a blackmail tool that is capable of compromising any politician?

1984 wasn't a fiction book, it was a future documentary.

  • My bosses at my work record all of their employees conversations and activities during all hours. They use this to discipline their employees and find out if people are sharing discontented views on the place I work for. I've seen my coworkers reprimanded for precieved issues that they have been recorded doing and saying when no managers are in the building. One of my coworkers who works with children was reprimanded for not doing her job when in actuality she was just not in view of the cameras when she took the children outside for activities which is a completely normal thing for her to do in her job. Theres a certain Orwellian feeling everytime I enter work even when I am not on the clock. Furthermore, the utter incompetence of the people using the cameras to spy on their employees is very concerning. The truth of the matter is that a lot of the employees are disgruntled with their employers and share those opinions when taking breaks and this has been my experience with every job I've ever had. The difference is is that they are listening. Its oppressive and should be illegal. They are not the government but it is still a violation of our right to free speech. "Oh you dont like it , quit."? Well, most of us need our jobs and are barely hanging on as it is and have no other options as we live in a small town. If you read this and support what I'm saying give a like and tell me how I can get this to stop. I'm thinking full staff walkout in full view of the surveillance equipment.

Worst part most people think it's doing them a favour.

Basically, this simply means that the upper 1% can get away with doing anything that they please and the rest of us can't do squat.

Our politicians in the US are so lost and disconnected these companies could walk in under the guise of an American police security firm and they would do nothing.

One joke: No one protested when Snowden revealed that there was no surveillance around the world
  • @jzno
If it goes on like this, we all share this future…
  • @eitansalama2921
We need a constitutional amendment which guarantees the right to digital privacy…
  • This has been going on, it's crazy how no one believes you until vice makes a video saying the same thing

I do find it ironic that I am watching this on a platform owned by Google. No need to force people here in the US, we sign up for it by not reading the terms of agreement, and even if we do, we still have no choice. At the end of the day it is no different to me.

Come on guys, this is a literal nightmare. We are living in some sort of distorted reality. Total madness.
