I have a suggestion. It might be beneficial to make and use sabots to keep the darts from bending in the barrel.

As kids in Arizona , we used to clip off , 4 inch prickly pear cactus needles , put a paper cone on the end , then shoot out of soda straws at each other lol . Thing about cactus needles , is that the almost microscopic point , breaks off inside , and itches for days .

Try a Jamshidi needle. They are used for bone marrow biopsy. The bore of the needle is large and it is possible fluid could exit after it sticks in target. There are several commercially available versions thst a man of your talent could modify for blowgun use. A plastic leur lock on the end of the needle could be fitted to a .357 sabot. Maybe use an IV tubing end cap with a leur lock. I also believe that a hollow tube would be stiffer than a wire.

i built a blowdart gun out of a squirt gun and a flea market cheapo blowgun once, i ended up having to make darts from sharpened nails with rolled paper cones on the back to handle the impact. it was really fun.

For the revolver shooting needles maybe something along the lines of a pepper box pistol?

Jörg, don’t forget to mention that you can also use the Ashinger with less pressure for training purposes “out of the water” 😉 Otherwise "someone" might think, that you didn't design it exclusively for submerged use. 🙂

Joerg, brilliant as usual! I was wondering if you shouldn't perhaps modify the plastic head of the dart such that is sticks straight in the barrel and doesn't come out at an angle. That should enhance the accuracy of these devices.

Joerg have you seen the popcorn machines that use pressure and heat to instantly create popcorn? Mark Rober featured one in his most recent video. It would make an interesting (and powerful) weapon!

I had one of those blowguns as a kid, with 20 or so of those exact arrows. They were absolutely murderous and I even accidentally shot through a window once, while missing an apple. Propelled by my lungs, btw. Because it's essentially just a long tube with a sight and mouthpiece. Absolutely insane penetrative power, even from the cold steel arrows.
