You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
see that girl, watch that scene
digging the Dancing Queen

Friday night and the lights are low
looking out for the place to go
where they play the right music, getting in the swing
you come to look for a king

Anybody could be that guy
night is young and the music’s high
with a bit of rock music, everything is fine
you’re in the mood for a dance
and when you get the chance

You are the Dancing Queen
young and sweet only seventeen
Dancing Queen feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah
you can dance, you can jive
having the time of your life
see that girl, watch that scene
digging the Dancing Queen

You’re a teaser, you turn ’em on
leave ’em burning and then you’re gone
looking out for another anyone will do
you’re in the mood for a dance
and when you get the chance

You are the Dancing Queen
young and sweet only seventeen
Dancing Queen feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah
you can dance, you can jive
having the time of your life
see that girl, watch that scene
digging the Dancing Queen

Imagine being 17 when this was released in 1976 and now you’re 62 listening to it again. I can’t imagine the feels 😢

I'm 71 now and as a teenager, we knew all the words to ABBA songs....danced and sang along. Precious memories.
  • The 17 year old dancing queen is now a 57 year old senior citizen grandmother.

I'm 61 in 2024, still love ABBA, and I always will as one of my all time favorite groups. My mom died on Thanksgiving Day last year from brain cancer, she was 80. ABBA was her favorite group, she was a huge fan of music like this. Now my Mom dances in Heaven as a Dancing Queen. So when I get to thinking about my Mom, missing her, I can go back in time and remember her by listening to ABBA. Thank you ABBA for being part of my childhood growing up with your great music, and helping me get through my Mom's passing. You are family to me. This coming May 12th is Mother's Day, my family's first without Mom. But ABBA will be there to help me remember Mom. I will always cherish the memories of my Mom dancing with us boys when school was out for the Summer when we were young,Mom would be in the kitchen, or doing laundry or some such, then Dancing Queen would come on the air, and she would stop what she was doing and call us boys to come dance with her while the song played, and she would sing to the radio as we danced with her. My Mom had a beautiful singing voice, and at one time, was semi professional along with my Dad and his band. But my Mom had to stop to take of us boys, keep the house, etc. She chose to do that, no one made her do it. Now, I would gladly give my eyeteeth for just one more chance to dance with my Mom as Dancing Queen plays. I miss my Mom. RIP Mom. I love you. 😢
  • Not too many songs stand the test of eternity. These unbelievable people at the time had no idea how this song would move, shake, and bring joy to the dancing world ...even in 2024....and probably until Jesus comes back! :-)

Today's generation is UNABLE to make music like this, it's timeless.
