I would think that Link's statue is used so the game doesnt crash.

Fierce Deity is canonically the souls/aspects of all the Terminians. Each mask you get is also an aspect of their souls, which is why it’s required to get all of them to gain the Fierce Deity’s mask.

its always neat seeing new young kids getting into the older Zelda games. the origins of the FD is that it is the embodiment of Termina's hopes and dreams

Here's another easter egg, Fierce Deity's armor still has the old Gerudo cresent moon and star, that was removed from subsequent versions of Ocarina of Time released for modern consoles!

in the manga FD is basically the master god of time, who played songs for majora when it was a dragon for three days, which somehow killed the dragon then FD carved majora's mask out of a scale to seal it's power.

I like to think that since termina is separate but equal to hyrule, fierce deity is the hero’s spirit but was confined/condensed into the mask allowing his own powers and influence to flow into whoever wore it kind of like majoras mask. Kind of like how majoras mask was able to control skull kid after a while

A funny thing is in Japanese version the name of the mask can be translated as "Demon god", "Mighty God" or "Angry God", the french version also refers him as the Demon god, other name for the deity Mask link is "Oni Link".

Horrible time paradox where Link gets sent far to the past and becomes the fierce deity due to some shenanigans with the mask, so he goes back and bcomes the mask because he had the mask, so the mask exists because it exists (song of storms starts playing)

Fierce Diety to me is the Hero of Termina.

I always figured that link was the reincarnation of the fierce diety like how Zelda is the reincarnation of hylia and that the mask is actually his lost divinity.
