I am a former combat medic, current first aid instructor and avid outdoorsman. The only one I take issue with is number 6: you can indeed use snow to rehydrate, the key is to have it melt in your mouth, not your stomach… so yes, do not “eat” show to rehydrate but rather let your mouth’s warmth melt the snow before you swallow the melted snow. … side warning, it is always best to do this while active so that you do not unintentionally cool yourself even more when already struggling to stay warm. Conversely, if you are being too active, sweat is a killer, so you then really need to eat snow to help prevent sweating when you’re still active. But as soon as you stop being active, switch to melt in your mouth before swallowing.

Fact 101: Car seat headrests are designed to pull out and used to break the window if trapped underwater or you don't like your windows.

In dealing with a stroke, the FAST method is correct, however, the T for TIME means not only call for help quickly but ALSO for noting what time the symptoms started or what time you realized the need for help.
  • 18:38 a man is struggling to get free of quicksand. He has a blanket in front of him that he can spread out and lay across to paddle himself to safety. A jacket or even a shirt would help. If you're traveling in freezing weather, try to keep these in your vehicle: plenty of cardboard to stand or lay on. It'll keep you from freezing. A flat edge shovel for moving mud or snow if you're stuck. Lots of warm blankets(wool)Xtra clothes warm shoes and socks. Supply of emergency food and water in case you're stranded. Reflective emerg road signs so people can see you. Flashlight/Batts. First aid kit. A day pack in case you have to travel. This really FANTASTIC video! I learned so much. Thank You 🫶

That pupil reflection tip is how my cousin discovered his infant daughter had retinal cancer. She lost an eye, but is doing really well now.
  • The 911 tip is so accurate. I'm a former 911 operator and alot of callers go straight into their emergent details and I had to plead for them to answer where they are. You can give me your entire life story but I can't get help started until I know where to send them. Also, contrary to popular belief, we cannot track you like they show on TV. So the assumption that I will already know where you are is not a good assumption and can potentially lead to your death. First things first, give your location.

As an ophthalmologist myself, I must say #26 is wrong. It's not if you see a "white pupil", it's if there's one pupil reflecting light, and the other doesn't. The one that doesn't reflect light is the sick eye. In the case of the pic of the baby shown, the sick eye is the "black pupil" eye

Another tip: chicken and pork need to be fully cooked to eat. With beef, if it’s ground, don’t eat it rare like you can with steak, this is because most of the food born bacteria exists on the surface and during the grinding process, the surface bacteria gets pushed throughout the ground meat.
  • I remember learning about case where a woman was heard screaming late at night, after she was found dead, all those who heard her thought someone else would help, this case sparked a sociological study that coined the term bystander affect. Brilliant vid, learned a lot from this. Thank you x
  • I had a stroke 5 weeks ago ~ I had ZERO classic signs...I had weakness, but could lift both arms, I felt like my tongue was heavy but not slurring with no face drooping, and all I can explain it as is I felt weird. The ER doctor admitted after my brain scan & MRI that he near sent me home without doing so! Be Careful with "Classic Symptoms".
  • If you are lost and need to make a camp fire. And if you supply matches and a bag of potato chips, use them to make a fire. Make a small pile of potato chips and light a match. The chips make a good fire starter, because the oil on the chips catches fire quickly enough for you to make a camp fire.

If you have a flat tire while going around a corner, don't let off the gas. Instead, punch the gas. Centrifugal force keeps the tire round. This tip saved me when a screwdriver went thru my tire.

I've been in some situations more the almost bleeding out and yes keeping pressure for 10m will save your life

If you find a cookie under your doormat, call the police. That means your house is being targeting by burglars, and they're trying to see if you're home or not. If they see that the cookie is not crushed, it means you're most likely not home, and they can break in. (I re-posted this comment because I was tired of all the negative replies)

THANK YOU FOR SAYING NUMBER 91!!! I've dealt with alcohol withdrawal too many times, it even gave me a seizure 3 days AFTER I stopped drinking, even though it's legal, it's got the worst withdrawal of any drug, as it can be lethal.
