It's like watching History Channel back before they decided to start dumbing down the population with endless showings of Pawn Stars, Pickers and Ancient Aliens. Great stuff.
-
You get a thumbs up for not using a computer voice.
-
finally a guy that sounds like he actually knows what he's talkin about presenting the facts without boring ya to sleep with pretentious pseudo-intellectualism . keeps it interesting without sophomoric drama . actually quite a riveting talk with awesome visuals , class act , thanx Ryan !

I wasn't aware of how much art there is depicting the lives of the Merovingians.
-
Small correction: "martel" is old French for "hammer" (modern French "marteau") so "Charles Martel" wasn't later known as "the Hammer", "Martel" itself is his later title "the Hammer".

This is helping me with my study on the Merovigians! Our teacher show us this video as a note guide. Thanks~
-
Excellent history of the Merovingians and Charles "The Hammer" Martel! One of the best I've seen, Dr. Reeves. Thank you!

I'm Belgian and am only now starting to found out about the history of my region. Thank you, very good and interesting!

I happened across this while researching my ancestry and became glued to my screen. This was presented extremely well and was very engaging. HUGE thumbs up!
-
WOW Thank you Ryan Reeves for a very engaging look at early European history. Your presentation was very well presented along with the visual maps and pictures.
-
Thank you! I LOVE learning things like this. I knew of Charles Martel and we touched on the Battle of Tours in my World History class in college, oh way back in 1975...but the info and detail here is fantastic! Thank you!
-
Great stuff. Just found your channel and can't wait to watch all of the presentations.
-
I've been listening through some of your videos and all I can say is, well done. Nice pacing and not too many jargons. And when there are, there's always a subsequent explanation.
-
At 21:00 I can't believe Prof. Reeves used a still photo from Monty Python and the Holy Grail ! I love it, but OMG. Can't stop laughing.

Bees as a symbol used by Napoleon goes back to ancient Egypt, the Pharoah was the queen bee, the entire society reflected this

Funny that in English speaking literature, the battle between the Franks and the Moors is called the Battle of Tours. In France, we call it the Battle of Poitiers as it happened in Vouneuil just outside of Poitiers, a good 40 miles south of Tours. It's probably referred to as such because of Tours' episcopal status. Really good video by the way. You managed to squeeze quite a bit in short half hour.

how fascinating all these forgotten kings and rulers you rarely hear about on mainstream history.
