Unless you are there you have no idea how truly LOUD those two engines are in the B-25! It shakes the ground when it takes off!

I never get tired of seeing that initial belch of smoke from an old radial starting!

These warbirds never fail to stir my passion, my patriotism, and my undying gratitude and respect for those who flew them "in harms way".

I bought a ride in a B-25J last year and a B-17G this year. Something I will always remember.
  • You had to be young , fit and in your prime even to get into that cramped interior. Those 18-22 year old men were truly the Greatest Generation 🇺🇸👍

Early in 1969 I travelled to San Carlos Mexico just outside of Guaymas on the Gulf of California to visit a friend who had been hired to fly B25s for the movie “Catch 22”. They had 16 planes that they had scoured the world to find and had the restored in California to flying condition. There is some amazing footage in the movie. My friend gave me a tour of his plane and I was stunned to realize how men were willing to fly these aircraft into combat. I have some home movies and 35mm still shots of the planes in the air. There is a great scene in the film of all the planes taking off in rapid order. No CGI in this film, everything real. When the planes arrived on set which included a 2500 ft runway (still visible in satellite view) they looked brand spanking new out of the factory. The director had them messed up with dirt and oil stains to make them look like the had been in constant combat. When you see where the bombardier had to sit you know why Yossarian was constantly trying to get grounded. At the time the group of panes was considered the 10th largest bomber air forces in the world.
  • I like to marvel at the state of the art technology of the 1930's. These old warbirds are both priceless and beautiful.
  • In the Netherlands we have one airworthy and two stationairy B25s left . The flying one is on Gilze Rijen airport , the other two in Overloon warmuseum and Soesterberg airforcemuseum . They were and are beautifull birds , I still get goosebumps when the flying one comes over my house , that sound is epic .

I cant imagine 50-100 of the 25s flying over. What power! What sound!
  • My dad, Sgt. Alton Wayne Tucker, was a gunner on a B-25 in Burma/Indo-China during WWII. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, and 6 other medals for his part in the war.

this is a real sound of brevity and courage. sound of a warrior.
  • OMG. What an amazing video of one amazing aircraft. My Uncle Ran Eledge was a rear gunner on the B-25 during WWII. He was stationed in the UK and flew multiple combat missions and fortunately returned from the war more or less in one piece but like many veterans the war made and indelible impression on him for the remainder of his life.
  • As kid in central Oklahoma in the 50' I watch many B-25's o training missions fly out of Vance AFB Enid, OK. They would fly fairly low over our farm just south of Okarche, OK then turn southwesterly for a few miles then turn back to the north toward Vance AFB.
  • Loved the footage. I grew up in Livermore and took lessons there before going to college in Idaho and getting my license. Back in 1971 it cost me $525.00 to get my license. Great memories.
  • Beautiful bird! Enjoyed seeing the other ships as well...sad to see 909...Thanks for this video!
  • Awesome video. Great image and audio quality. Incredible how small the plane actually is, you can barely sit next to eachother in the cockpit, like in a small car. The sound of twin prop radial engine never gets boring. Goosebumps on start-up and take-off!!
  • Actually flown in -25s twice. As sailor, returning to duty after a leave, once (about 1962) hitched a ride from Maxwell, to Andrews on a Mitchell. Couldn't hear, literally, for two or three days afterwards. I sat in a jump seat, for much of the flight to the rear of the two pilots, and roughly centered in the aircraft. This HAPPENs to place you dead center of the two wings. The wing structure forms a "tunnel" open to the actual physical rear of the two engines ... which forms a sound focusing channel .... and the noise level there is simply off the charts ... literally deafening. Great ride, but actually painful at times. Very, very loud conditions.Incidentally, for you drivers out there, Vmc for this machine is 145 mph!!!!! Really high ... for today's equipment.
