Often we're figuring things out as we go. Hopefully this advice will help take some of the guesswork out of your early days as a new parent and make life a bit easier for you and your family.

These are my top 14 pieces of advice for new moms and dads that I'd give as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist.

Shout out to all the fellow new dads who have no idea what they are doing!

My daughter was born 10 days ago. I am a first time dad. This is a great help. Thank you!

I litterally had no idea about the swings & sleepers, thank goodness I learned about this right before having our 1st baby in a few weeks. My friends used to always use sleepers & swings to let their babies sleep in another room, while they went off & did other stuff in another room. If the baby fell asleep in a stroller or carseat they would just leave them in it, as if it was buying them more time of peace & quiet. Thanks to this video I will easily remember "No chin to chest"

Would love to hear more advice for older kids. We’ve watched every video on you channel and they’ve helped us out hugely, but our little one is now 9 months and I feel it’s getting harder and harder to find good advice.

We are first time parents and we are Native American, we received a baby board and our baby girl sleeps a full 7 or 8 hours once we feed her, burp her then board. Love the board❤

Thank you so much!!! I am childfree, and my best friend is pregnant with her first. I have no idea what to do with babies. I am so grateful for your videos, I share them with her. Thank you for all the free wisdom you provide!!!

Also, keep in mind most development guides consider 40-week gestation. Mine was 38 weeks, we're playing catch up just to get to 'normal'. Consult your newborn med team (hope you have one available!) for adjustments to expectations.
  • Perfect timing! I'm expecting my first any day now and just shared this with my husband. The first sleep tip will be especially helpful, thank you!
  • @sjilani5727
Im a physician and my daughter was born 7 days ago and this is very helpful
  • This is also a great "refresher" course for people like me that have kids 18 years apart lol My oldest is 18, my middle child is 15, and my youngest is 4 months old lol
  • Your channel has been very helpful with our daughter! Especially all about sleeping! I’m still struggling with the tummy time but we are working on it.
  • @Laura-nc1qk
Thank you for the great video, very reassuring for first time parents. Congratulations and wishing you a smooth delivery!
  • Thank you so much for this phenomenal video, and superb summary of critical things to watch for! Really appreciate it. Our baby's birth is just around the corner and your channel helps us so much feeling much more prepared! Thank you.
  • @EHS84
My wife and I are first time parents and I have found this video very helpful thank you! I like how you share the information, very unpatronising and honest. Other videos I have watched they make out like they were the perfect parent straight away and their way is the only way.

Fantastic information! So helpful for a first time mum!
  • @gemmaartner2780
My little one is so noisy when he sleeps. Somehow i've now learned to filter out his 'not awake noises' when i'm asleep and now pretty much only wake up with his awake cry or any strange new noise (like a cough or soemething). It's crazy what our brains can do and i'm so bloody gratefull for it. I do agree with the fact that swaddling/sleepsacks and an empty crib are best for babies saftey. But that isnt possible with every baby. My little one needs a special medical pillow and for quite a while would only sleep next to me in his nest. Sometimes you've just gotta do what you gotta do.
  • Thank you for the effort you put in your videos! They proved very useful for us first time parents (I'm the dad)! Especially with your huge support for tummy time. Our little one hits the development milestone on the mark! I also appreciate your videos that are research based, more specially the debunking of folklores and myths!
  • @tinncan
My wife's consistent comment is "she's working really hard on being an only child" but the more I see of your videos, the more I realize our birthing classes were lacking on anything after the fact...
  • @iulianea
This was so interesting to watch. I should have seen this before my baby was born. My new born was also crying unconsolably for around 6 hours a day. I was so worried and went to hospital. In the end it was no need, baby was healthy but experiencing cramps - colics. Thank you for helping new parents with such useful information. Good luck!
