Cody had a similar tactic with his cr.hp it was so good. St.mk was plus enough to frametrap into itself so the block string went something like: st.mk, st.mk, cr.hp and it was minus oB but it was spaced out far enough that you could whiff punish their attempt to press a button with another cr.hp for HUGE damage.

Great video. I don't see enough people talking about this move and a lot of new Ryu players discredit it as "too slow/ takes to long to evade lows" instead of seeing its uses from long range.

Ever since launch it has been my favorite button. Punish counter combos with it are very satisfying

i always thought ryus hop kick was pretty decent along with his other buttons. but now they're just making him even better at this point. i can't imagine what more i could want from ryu; he seems pretty much perfect.
