How To Korea - Episode 14 - God, Shamanism, Jehova's Witnesses, Shincheonji, Ghost Stories, China

Published 2024-05-12
Join us today on another episode of How to Korea, the best podcast in South Korea, where we tell you what it takes to live in South Korea.

In today's episode, we have quite the variety of stories. We talk about putting your business listing up on Naver Places, and some answers and experiences regarding Naver blogs and scam callers. We then divert straight into the topic of the Shincheonji Church, and the controversy they had during the COVID-19 outbreak. We also talk about Jehova's Witnesses and their role in South Korea, and a little bit about their religion based on our personal knowledge and experience.

Then, we discuss the monitor-state of China and the presence of the social credit score that is being reinforced in China currently, and the surveillance technology of South Korea and how everything you do (almost everything) is monitored very closely, so smile for the camera!

Given the nature of the topics that we discuss, we proceed to talk about superstitions and shamanism in South Korea, and some of the strange foods that we've tasted and experienced here. Naturally, we transition to a ghost story from Ian and an experience with God with James and how some of these instances and supernatural experiences may link with night terrors.

A final comment to leave you with, is "Don't take candy from strangers" and it seems to apply moreso to adults (especially women in South Korea) than children. Be careful what you accept from strangers in South Korea!
