New Zealand’s prime minister tells the Guardian how her life has changed and her ambition for a can-do country. She says she appreciates still being able to do 'normal things' and says her pregnancy has given her a wider perspective: 'There's been a couple of meetings where I'll be working away, very focused on an issue, and I'll get a sharp kick in the ribcage and it's this little reminder that there's something else going on in my life'

I'm Australian and REALLY PISSED OFF that New Zealand does everything better than we. Except (i) Cricket and (ii) Cheating at cricket.
  • Even a year later when I see Jacinda and Obama videos, my entire computer melts down.

We had a decade of infrastructure and conservation being neglected before her. Her government has had to deal with a terrible need for repairs and retrofit, on top of the stuff they campaigned on.

She is so diplomatic. I have no idea where she stands on her relationship with Trump or how she feels about Brexit, but from V watching that I get the feeling she can’t stand Trump and that’s probably Putting it mildly. And her Brexit view, I get the impression, Is that she is a Remainer In fact a very strong one.

kiwis have an interesting accent xD
  • Why does the 'interveiwer' not get her to answer the question that is asked?

Arden just made me think of U.S. activist (and former Green Party VP candidate) Winona La Duke. I suspect they'd get along great.
  • From a Swedish perspective, Jacinda Ardern is the PM and personality I would have run all countries in Europe. I see her having both feet on the ground, display a well defined diplomacy, working hard and yet never forgetting we are all human and we need that human spirit to focus on how to become better human beings. I would have her run my country, every day of the week! Love and admiration!

As a New Zealander, am proud of Jacinda Ardern. What you see is what you get. No beating around the bush.

I like how she said that Trump is sexist, but she took longer than 3 seconds to say it, knowing that there won't be any backlash from Trump or his supporters because 3 seconds is longer than their attention span.

I adore Ms Ardern’s charisma and passion to serve the people of NZ. Greetings from Malaysia
  • PM Ardern is my favorite world leader, past or present, right up there with Obama. It's so refreshing to know that at least one country on the face of the planet has a leader capable of compassion and empathy. People often joke (mainly Australians) about borrowing her for their country so she can fix it up, but I think the world can agree that this is the one time it ought to be acceptable to say: America first. (Like, please? She kept the COVID-19 pandemic under control and actually passed gun legislation to keep the Kiwis safe. If we can get our country to the point where it can begin to heal on its own, than the rest of the world will be significantly more stable and in a better position to heal itself too.)

No one really knew who or what she was just few weeks ago and now the whole world wants her to lead them.

I am from the UK and I held Helen Clark, one of your previous PM`s, in high regard but Jacinda Ardern is setting a new standard that all leaders should aspire to.
