Farscape 1x10 Reaction | They've Got A Secret

In the first episode, Zhaan asks D'Argo how old he is, and then teases him for being so young. So D'Argo isn't the middle-aged seasoned warrior that most characters of his archetype are. He's his people's equivalent of the teen father who stepped up.

And this episode explains why D'argo was so willing to cut off the arm to get home. He wanted to get home to protect his son. Moya was also willing to risk the others to protect her child. It's a parent thing.

That's the beauty of farscape it makes you laugh, cry and think about important subjects we often don't want to think about.

Having not re-watched this show in over a decade, I had forgotten that all of this stuff happens in a single episode. But it's a great way to go from thing-of-the-week to being more invested in two different plot lines.

By this point, Aeryn identifies with D'Argo because he's a fellow soldier, identifies with John because he looks like a Sebatian, & now understands Pilot much better because she's no longer genetically pure.

I am so loving getting to experience this show again with someone who hasn't seen it. One of the most creative, emotional, and well written and acted sci-fi shows ever made.

Ever since you asked about a possibility of a baby, I was excited for this episode. Great reaction. This show is great at pulling at your emotions. You can like, love or hate a character depending on an episode. The show is definitely a rollercoaster ride. I have always feel that this series is so unrated.

FYI, there was a British sci-fi series years back called Blake's 7. That series was one of the inspirations for Farscape. Blake's 7 involved a crew of escaped prisoners stealing an advanced ship and going on the run from an insane military commander who wanted revenge. The prisoners had a charismatic leader, a tech genius, a cowardly thief, an ace pilot, a psychic, a friendly strong guy, and the ship could self repair, had secrets and an AI system that talked on the monitor. Basically they were a direct inspiration for the Moya crew and the Peacekeepers.

This reaction was on another level of wholesome. And I'm looking forward to all those Auntie moments coming up.
