The drummer is known as one of the best ever to play drum. RIP Neil

Every song on Rush Moving Pictures is pure awesomeness and worth checking out for those who are new to Rush 😊
  • "He knows changes aren't permanent, but change is" - brilliant! ❤

Thank you for highlighting this Canadian masterpiece. One of my favourite bands live and, despite seeing it repeatedly with my own eyes, it’s hard to believe all this sound comes from three guys. They deserve all the respect.

Mentioning that "shift" early on, and not being a "percussionist", you're starting to dial-in on the greatness of Neil Peart. His ability to initiate time shifts is legendary, and the part that throws most people off is that it's seamless and flawless. Great reaction to their signature song. A little known fact....Geddy HATED this song the first time they did it. RIP Neil.

"His mind is not for rent to any god or government.." Always really liked that line.

This is the best reaction I have been a Rush fan 45 years and seeing your smile while your listening in awe made my day
  • @Cadinho93
Rush is that band that you've never heard of anything like them before and you never will again. They're one of a kind! Also, one of the best drummers ever! RIP Neil Peart!!!

Rush combines intricate craftsmanship with feeling good. There something ‘good’ about them. Nice to feel that in this harsh environment these days.
  • @jackfetter
I love that you are re-visting Rush, this is a DEEP rabbit hole! One of the most amazing things about Rush is the way they move between time signatures; you may not even have noticed for example the bridge section into the guitar solo changed to 7/8, so effortlessly and without the listener being jolted or having to re-sync their foot tapping on the down beat... ;-)

The Professor on drums. Life lessons I learned from him . #1 be humble. #2 never let praise go to your head .#3 do the best you can
  • @gruntabro1
I love how a 3 piece band like Rush can make so much sound there’s so much going that you need to listen over and over to take everything in

Every period, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, is a reflection of the music they were listening to. The music that inspired them influenced the music they created. By this point, it was The Police, Ultravox, Talking Heads, etc. "All this machinery making modern music ..."

I’m an old guy now, and was a teenager in the 70’s when they started. Lots of great music came from the 70’s and 80’s, but anyone who appreciated talent KNEW Rush was something special. Just 3 guys rocking… all 3 guys were considered ’nerds’ back then because they were extremely smart and talented, and didn’t party like rock stars. They would sit around and enjoy a great glass of wine instead… !

You cant go wrong with analyzing a Rush song. I still get amused watching you react to Closer To The Heart, your first time with Rush. A couple of great Rush songs for vocals are The Trees and Spirit Of Radio. Another great video, Bethany
  • @RonniePeterson
As usual I loved loved your analysis along with the vocals/bass/synth of Geddy and that guitar of Alex. But, watching the young Neil Peart at work on those drums brought a genuine tear to my eye. Missed so badly.

@8:14, that little pointy lip smile, ADORABLE. A woman who appreciates Rush's genius is rare in my world.
  • @johnandrews3568
The rare mix of three virtuoso musical genius' who stayed and played together for 40+ years.
  • @russward2612
These guys had a career unparalleled in scope, covering 4 + decades. They evolved their sound constantly with each studio album and song. You could spend the rest of your life finding new ways to appreciate what these guys made and shared so expertly.
