I wanted to give it around a year of settling back into Perth life before I filmed this video! If you found this video helpful, please subscribe - it helps me to continue creating content and supports my channel more than you know. ♡

I loved watching this video. I'm currently home in Italy, daydreaming of living back in Perth soon! Personally, I think that people who define Perth as boring have kind of a limited concept of fun, where it mainly consists of getting drunk and partying until 5am. I find Perth each year more exciting! There are always theatre shows, concerts, festivals, sports, and shows going on, all done in a chill and laid-back way. I would love to see more Perth vlogs and I love your food recommendation videos! -Gaia

Similar story. I’m finding the social life the hardest. For people who didn’t grow up in Perth, don’t stress if the relationships aren’t sticking at the start. It won’t be as easy as Melbourne or Sydney. Be patient, be in your niche or hobbies and tbh embrace the quiet times.

Everything you said is 100% true. Most importantly I think Perth is for you or not based on your stage in life. I remember disliking it in my 20s but loving and appreciating it in my 30s. Depends what your priorities and lifestyle is like.

Great vlog. Very informative! Thank you for sharing ❤

Thank you. We just visited Western Australia from Melbourne, Victoria for the first time. We are having a cold winter here, I do miss your lovely weather and beaches. I would love to move to Perth and WA as i feel you life style and outdoors can be enjoyed in all seasons compared to Cold old Melbourne. Cheers.

As a perth building designer. I went and spent 3 years working in melb. I was renting a room, living and working in Hawthorn east area. About roughly 10km away from cbd. From my experience melb is more expensive and the cost of living was greater than perth. While salary was slightly more, living expenses was more as well. When people ask which is better, they usually forget about what is their purpose going to a different city. You cannot compare a bigger city to a smaller one when they both share similar level of technological advancement. Granted, perth might be smaller or having lesser cultures and population and your cost of living will be quite similar in both cities. If you want a cbd life and have fun spending, melb is your answer. If you want less noise, well perth it is. Both cities will give what you want when you strive for it. Hope this helps with some clarity to others seeking a city to suit their lifestyle. Btw great video.

Thanks for your information! Could you make a video about a brief introduction to different regions in Perth?

Thanks for the video Jamie, when you mentioned commuting was easy and took less time to get around Perth by car, it is very subjective depending on many factors like where you live and what time of day you start your commute. For me, I find catching the train and bus more quicker than driving, but it's different for each person.
  • @MoneySmartMum
Good video hun❤ have been in Perth for 10 years now and yep you’re pretty much spot on😊 Although I will say the freeway traffic has got a lot worse in the past year but I guess compared to other cities it’s light traffic -I just got too comfortable 😅
  • Perth sounds a LOT like California while Melbourne / SYD are NYC 😅 very interesting how geographical factors affect an area’s culture & lifestyle
  • Hi, yeah I’m looking to moving to Perth I’ve been wanting to do it for years but gotta wait financially to do it but I think it’s an awesome place and you’re right a lot of the buses and trains and ferries was great loved it they thought of everyone even the disability people, because in Brisbane, they don’t think a disability people that gaps between the platform and the train is ridiculous as well as the transport is good better than Queensland I found when I was staying at Scarborough. I found it difficult for a direct bus to go to Hillarys and freo , but besides that I thought the transport was wonderful. This time I went over there I found I saw so much of Perth that I haven’t seen in years and I just can’t wait to move over there but for now I’m just gonna have to keep doing my yearly visits. Thank you for the pros and cons

Cant wait to Perth, Australian in the future. Trip of lifetime.
  • @ParlayNinja
Your con about making friends in Perth is what I find about Sydney...and I'm from Perth.
  • @BDub2024
Hot weather is great. My advice buy a house within 5km of the beach, as the seabreeze cools Perth significantly. River can be good too as it can catch the breeze as long as its not too far inland. Embrace the beach lifestyle and swim in the morning, afternoon or early evening. Go for walks long the coast, swim, picnics... most of the year its actually quite cool along the coast after 3pm with a strong seabreeze. Where its just cement glass and steel its going to be hot. As well as further inland. Its not difficult and if you want a cool house and backyard then choose a place closer to the ocean and elevated. And of course, avoid houses with large west facing windows!

More people live in houses and do things around their house. The density is less, so people don't go out for dinner all the time. They're more likely to stay home and do sport or recreation. Perth is a great outdoors city, with sport and activities based around being outside.
