Great points Doc! Yes for real spring and fall are clump seasons here in Ohio. Regardless of what mower you have and what blades you are running. Yes, some mowers clump way worse than others. I think Ferris ranks up there with Scag and exmark with less clumps. Awhile back I was in the hunt for a 36” stand on for all my gated back yards. I demoed several different makes. I was going to get another Ferris until I demoed the new bobcat. I ended up getting a new 36” bobcat ZS4000. I will definitely say that they have stepped up their game. It is an awesome machine, lays stripes like a rockstar, minimal clumping in wet grass and is built good. When it comes time to replace my 61” Ferris I will get a bobcat. Only thing Ferris has on other brands is the suspension ride. Keep up the awesomeness doc!

In CT, out on sun on commercial property..wet grass..hight of mower a must, and watch tracks on sidewalk, ugh!! We just do r best...
  • Great video, I agree with all of your points. I'm not sure that there is anything that will keep wet grass from sticking to a mower deck. Blade sharpening and deck scraping are part of the job. Have a great night!

Great video, I couldn’t agree more I found to if you go slower while cutting helps , but like you said there’s really nothing you can do to prevent it👊🏼🔥👊🏼
  • Great advice man up north just like you man and I know what you mean about that wet grass it’s a bitch and people down south don’t know the struggle dry grass you can double cut it triple cut whatever and it looks good no matter what. I mainly do push mowing so I don’t have time for that what I do sometimes is wait a day if I can let it dry if not I will go through the yard and take my big backpack blower and blow the clumps around I agree with you on that don’t leave lines or clumps in the yards but sometimes if you call the customer or text them say hey it was wet when I cut I had so many to do today I’ll come back next week and clean it up. Small handheld blowers don’t work as well in clumps I learned so backpack is where it’s at and that’s why I bought my big blower for that purpose but I mainly bag and mulch I only discharge clippings when it’s dry
  • Only have a few yards that clump because the house is mostly in the shade so the grass holds water. Only thing I do is do extra passes on them at a half inch higher than the cutting height it eventually levels out good. Other yards really don't have problems with those. If you find something to keep the deck clean id be interested to know I tell you that. Its a pain cleaning out sometimes.
  • The client that waters the grass before you get there and then asks why there are grass clumps. 😅😅😅 I tell them to water the grass after I mow because my socks keep getting wet. That always does the trick. Put the problem back on them. Or charge them a triple cut like i did today. Add 50% to the bill. They will understand eventually.

Hey, Dr. real he knows the deal💯 you mentioned in the past that the Scagg feels this is only sometimes under powered in certain situations. I know that you only know about the Scagg stand on. I’m thinking about getting a stand on mower instead of a sitdown mower... My thought is standing is better than being slumped over in a seat, the only way for me to go to the next level Customer is there have an efficient mower that can cut 2 1/2 acres on down to an acre, I’m looking at the Ferris with the big black mower 39 hp 61 inch deck. So if you could do a video on the pros and cons of the stand on verses, the sit down, I would appreciate it.

Would car wax work? Of course you'd have to apply it the day of it's purchase and hosing it completely clean after each season prior to the application. I use it for my snow shovel to limit the snow sticking. Seems to work. I guess it's half theory and half practical.
  • I'm surprised there isn't more people using bad boy. They look like solid units. Good to hear about there cut quality as well. Ohio is definitely challenging at times. Keep up the hustle.

There is so much bermuda down here it's just not like that here. SCAG NATION
  • Hello DLT lawn care business from tractor man lawn care business
  • You would avoid this problem if you bagged the clippings. It is very unprofessional to leave the clippings on the lawn. The clippings should be taken away by the landscaper, instead of cutting corners.
