  • The man’s been competing for nearly 3 decades I’m not going expect him to be fire every second of his life.
  • People need to relax on Diago. He got beat by two incredible players and there is nothing wrong with that. Top 8 in a heavily stacked tournament is not a disappointment.
  • @j2lewis
Fading away but he got 5th at a stacked event. Dude is still as consistent as ever

Daigo is getting older and having the mindset to conpete takes a toll. The guy is playing and making content for twitch/YT he doesn't need to grind like 20 years ago.
  • @imarock.7662
Daigo deserves a break. The man has been competing for so long.

“It was R.Kelly all over the place.” NGL, that comment made me laugh so hard I R.Kellie’d a little.😂

Back in the Wednesday Night Fight/09er days days (WNF) I met Daigo. Nice guy. I must have seen lord Daigo roaming the venue at least 3 times lol. I think the reason he always looks lost, as him looking sleepy is nothing new, is he gets jet lagged bad from all the traveling. So he's always looking for somewhere to sleep. As another example, I remember (also at WNF) almost stepping on Poongko, because he was fast asleep in the corner of the venue floor. Ppl forget, these players travel from all over to compete & Daigo is in his 40's. Anyone in the 40's knows the nap game is top tier.

I think it's easy to forget you get to 40 and a lot of time shifts to responsibilities you didn't have at 20-25. Daigo said the game is so much more complex and time consuming than years ago. Just can't grind all day everyday is a big factor. Still a great player but sounds tough to balance family/relationship/business responsibilities with grinding to be a top player every single day. Huge respect to the dude.
  • @ninjako6255
I wouldn't say it was off. He just lost a lot of the 50/50 and Kevin won more of them. Daigo brought it to 2 each in a spectacular fashion.
  • Daigo is still at a high level despite his age. For example, many younger players than Daigo during SF4 were already missing or they did not do well in SF5.
  • @manrightchea
If only Daigo had drank the Saké of Immortality like Tokido. Then he too could be a centuries-old lich and continue winning..
  • @Yoloslides
22:47 in Punk's interview with Wong, he said he'd want to retire at about 35 and work on other things within the community outside of actually competing himself
  • People who say he doesn't give AF are clueless. The most important part of competing at anything at high levels is detaching yourself emotionally. That is a literal skill that you NEED and caring too much is going to make you lose 100% of the time. You need to basically show up and let the practice/comfort of practicing 100000 times be engrained into your subconscious, so you basically are on autopilot and play optimally without worrying or thinking too much. Having too much attachment for a result (like a big prize) is a sure way to get performance anxiety, doubt yourself, and lose.
  • @Megamibunny
People complaining about Daigo but he Won previous competitions Made it to the EWC in the first place over hundreds of others Has a wife and kids Won awards and is one of the most respected Most of the haters and everyone in the comments including me can’t say they did the same or have it
  • @ImArchiie
Guys keep forgetting he is legit 43. The fact he is still competing in the highest level is unprecedented.
  • Daigo is an elder statesman of the FGC. He has won everything and got nothing more to prove. I am grateful that he still playing at highest level. Its time for new batch of players to rise up.
