Slaking = Old guy who used to lift Vigoroth = The same old guy in his peak

12:03 Freezai canonically died at the end of the video, that's why it cuts off. The channel will now be taken over by his evil twin brother, Hotz, who only plays Randbats

I like the Scyther dynamic where its evolutions maintain its total base stat. It so happened that Scizor turned out much better, but you can tell it was still designed so its pre-evolution was still a viable alternative.

Being a Slaking fan is hard, my favorite Pokemon ever constantly gets slandered because he likes to chill from time to time

One unmentioned benefit of using Dusclops is that it can't be stopped with Fake out when setting up Trick room due to its Ghost typing. That is what put it in the spotlight for being a trick room user in the first place.
  • A more minor thing in terms of why evolutions are usually better, but in later Gens (where Eviolite was recently introduced to begin with), Knock Off being such a good and common move makes the Pre-Evolutions more likely to be crippled by losing Eviolite compared to an Evolution which is relatively less impacted by item removal.

How about gen 7 Eevee? That damn evoboost made it more viable than all of its eeveelutions.
  • i've looked through the whole dex and have a few more fringe examples. haunter is technically viable because unlike gengar it didn't lose levitate which is extremely useful for it as a spinblocker, there's a case for basculin-blue stripe since it's faster than basculegion and has rock head so you don't die from two wave crashes, eevee used to have a niche with extreme evoboost shenanigans, meltan has magnet pull which is funny but technically a niche, base rotom is cool since it's faster and keeps its unique ghost/electric typing which is great with levitate, charjabug is obviously a premium funny button for doubles teams with battery, clamperl has a higher special attack than mega mewtwo y with deep sea tooth and access to shell smash, and doublade has no guard so if you wanna use aegislash but hate missing poltergeist that's an option. there's also some unique traits that some lines lose that aren't good but still cool, like how bagon has sheer force and dragon dance which is absolutely terrifying in lc, and numel has simple with access to curse, flame charge, amnesia, etc.

Vigoroth: Absolute monster, shredding through teams Slaking: yawns and picks nose
  • @1BlueYoshi
Also important to note that because of Item Clause in VGC, there is less opportunity cost in using an Eviolite Pokemon because better hold items might already have been used by other Pokemon on the team
  • You guys laugh at Dusknoir, his Ice Punch OHKOs Landorus Therian!1!1!1!1 SO META
  • @dadeb9102
Gligar and golbat are great examples of this in GO because they have more bulk proportional their stat totals than their evolutions, which is the most important thing stat wise in GO
  • @mkah4776
You did show a small g-corsola but probably didnt talk much about it because it's probably somewhat similar with porygon2.
  • @Ufo3208_
That ending caught me off guard 😂
  • @Kasaaz
When I was first learning about VGC, Prankster Tailwind was when I said to myself, "Hold on, maybe there's something to this doubles thing..."
  • @axr1798
Wolfey used Haunter with Delcatty in a tournament
  • Uhh, Electivire being better than Electabuzz is debatable. Electabuzz is faster, while it also has the same base special attack as Electivire. Very often, Electivire will enter the field, get hit because it's slower and accomplish nothing, or survive and then hit itself with recoil damage from Wild Charge or Supermeme Slam, accelerating the process anyway. Meanwhile, Electabuzz can put its ok special attack to use thanks to its higher speed, to at the very least do some damage before it succumbs to anything.
