Welcome to the Aaron Engineering Channel. Today's video is part 2 of 3 part series where I make jaws for the rail vice and offer up the plans for free. Each week a new video will be released along with the update plans to make the parts yourself.

Fun facts: Rail vice is 65mm high, 80mm wide and 185mm long. It has a usable jaw height of 40mm and an opening of 105-110mm.

  • VERY good technical presentation mate. Clear, logical, and detailed appropriately ( IMHO) 😎 The Polytech is lucky to have you mate . Regards Robert (Apprentice F&T 1966-1971….. yes, they were five year apprenticeships back then πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«)

I made one of those as a first year apprentice 50 years ago , still got it and it has been quite useful over the years. The design of mine was different in that the frame was a casting in cast iron. There must have been thousands of these made bt apprentices.

Nice work Aaron. It always looks so much easier when someone else is doing all the work πŸ‘
  • @localele1
That is a great apprentice job which they can keep for many years of use.

G'day Aaron. Another Excellent Tutorial Video. The vice is starting to take shape into a very nice precision unit. Well done, catch you on the next Installment. Ted
  • Hello Aaron, Nice to see you can read a vernier caliper (scale) and not digital readout... Not many of us left - lol. Take care. Paul,,
