WE DESERVE BETTER FROM THE BATTLE PASS - PBM-5A Mariner in War Thunder

The Battle Pass in War Thunder has slowly been getting worse quarter after quarter. This Season will grant you two vehicles, the first of which we will play today, the PBM-5A Mariner.
The vehicles for the Battle Pass are the PBM-5A Mariner and the Sholef. There is also a crate which will give you one of 4 boats randomly but not in coupon form. Although there are 3 vehicles, only 2 are new. The boats are from previous events but you don't even get to choose which.
The PBM-5A Mariner is not a great plane. It's a float plane with retractable gear and some defensive armament but it's almost a copy and paste plane from a previous event which actually sits at a lower BR.
Due to the float plane nature, it's incredibly slow and cannot climb quickly or high. This makes it very vulnerable to fights and SPAA.
In Naval, it's even worse due to the fact the AAA on the decks of players and AI ships will have an easy time of shooting you down before you're even close to the battlefield.
THAT and the spawn point cost for this plane in Ground RB is absolutely absurd.
A real shame! Hopefully the Sholef is at least fun to play! :)

0:55 the davy crockett is a decoration for vessels only, so you can't even put it in your tank

Friendly reminder: The BP costs the same amount, as when it had 4 vehicles in it, and the main reward was a 7.0+ tank Now it has: 1 unique vehicle, because they can't even make a unique plane reward they legit just added 3 P-51Cs

Hmm do I want a fat pig of a flying boat that'll get shot down before I get anywhere near where I want to bomb or the BTD which is only 0.3 BR higher, is about 200 kph faster, has a much better chance of reaching a base and is infinitely better at naval battles? Such a hard choice....

I think the whole reason strat bombers have high SP in ground rb is a relic from AGES ago to when bomb targets (like in air rb) were in ground matches. If I remember correctly, you could bomb 3 of those, then kill the airfield just like in air rb to win the match

Hey odd according to some research and a suggestion on the forum, the Sholef is supposed to have Thermals, a LRF, Leopard 1 mobility and at least 40°/s turret rotation, and in game has the wrong cannon, They even got the weight wrong. It’s amazing how they butchered another Israeli vehicle.

SP cost on a plane is also based on what belt/shell type you put on it. Any gun 23mm and up on just AP sets SP cost up to 150 increase. Like the Stuka with the the twin 37mm guns gets a SP cost of 631 just with AP, and its not even that good.

Also another thing to mention with the new battlepasses is that all the profile pictures are just AI generated slop. Just worse all around, not even any wee woo lights to make up for it.

As someone whos main aircraft in both Ground and Air is a US Heavy Bomber, Gaijins balancing decisions make me livid. Why should I be paying double the SP cost for my B-17 thatll likely become Ostwind or Fockewulf food, than a F8F Bearcat or an AD-4 Skyraider?

What sucks about this is my great grandpa was a radioman on the PBM-5. Would have been great to get even though it's just another bomber at low tier. It's a shame that something I could have connected with my grandpa with is locked behind a mediocre battle pass paywall.
