Fox News released an interview from Vincent Taormina, an alleged former classmate of Crooks, who stated that Crooks mocked him for supporting Trump. Taormina also said that Crooks was very arrogant and acted as if he knew everything, especally when it came to politics. The theory that he registered as a republican to vote in the primary against Trump is given more validity if this is true.

On the "It Was Staged!" bit, one should also take into account that Trump just had an amazing debate before this this event happened that made Biden look absolutely horrible. Why would you take a risky gamble so soon after having what was already seeming like an assured win? You don't gamble everything when you think you've got it all. You gamble everything when you think you have nothing left to lose.

The problem with recommending an "outside" investigation is simple: no one who has the ability to conduct such an investigation has the authority or credibility to be believed by the interested parties. If any federal govt agency investigates it, well, they're the agencies involved so people will think they're covering up things. If a private company does so, people will say they're doing so for whoever paid for their time. The crumbling authority and credibility of the media precludes most reporters too.
