A couple seasons ago I was D3 and I can tell you FOR A FACT I am significantly better than I was... I've been grinding ones and free play and my consistency and mechanics have improved... yet I'm still struggling to stay in D3. The lobbies feel competitive too. I'm routinely doing things that my past self would consider "peak" and the opponents are just countering/saving it. It's insane. And it makes no sense. You'd think they'd do the opposite to make the player base feel rewarded and incentivize grinding but now I feel stuck even though I'm improving... this is how you get people to quit. Idiotic from the developer standpoint which no one is talking about.

The rank ladder is getting harder and in turn I feel I’m noticing more Smurfs in my games. A lot of my GC1 friends are stuck in C2 with me but ive never been GC, alot of then say (not every game but a good chunk of games) that they feel like theyre in GC lobbies from a couple seasons ago but in C2 now

Was pushing into C3 for a few seasons and somehow have now gotten stuck in D3/C1. Not that I have a lot of time to commit these days, but really hurts the ego after putting in so many hours over the years.

It’s killing the game. When you are never able to rank up because of Smurfs/matchmaking or whatever, it takes away your drive to play. You know you are getting better but are the same rank or eleven lower than a year ago.

In my opinion, it is very annoying when I win three matches in a row, but i don't rank up. But the moment I lose because my teammate lost connection or quit, I lose rank. It is very much bull most of the time when solo queuing. But I still love the game lol.

I think maybe as the game gets older. The majority of the people still playing are more skilled in general, because they have been playing since the beginning while others moved on. Less new players to be better than. 🤷🏼‍♂️

As a d2/d3 in 2v2, i can confirm that there are multiple problems at ranking up. I always play against c1/c2 players who ranked down by accident or smurfs who are gc. By nearly playing always against champ players in diamond its not possible to rank up except you train like 200h for it

So I’m not the only one who’s moved down a full rank despite not getting worse ?

Bro I was playing 1v1 and I’m gold and I was playing with some guys doing airdribles and shit like that I was so confused 😂

When I keep trying to get diamond again, I sometimes get duos where one of them is a smurf/high diamond/perhaps even champ. Its soo much harder for me now

I think you should have asked how the game feels for most of the playerbase, not for pros and high gc. Sure there is a problem for high level players, but atleast there isn't smurfing problems on higher levels. If you today start new account around 600mmr, that's around gold. So that means most of the playerbase is around gold to diamond and when psyonix pushes down more and more higher level players, we get more and more unbalanced games as we can get anything from people starting out to smurf accounts in our games. That drives more players to quit so this strategy doesn't really make any sense for this game.

I gave up on the whole ranking system. I just play the game casually every now and then I don’t even worry about it. I won’t even spend another dollar on the game pretty much gonna walk away from it soon.

Thee seasons ago I vas playing games to get champ rewards, now I can’t get d2… but after almost never getting d1 in 3v3 I’m d2 this season. But my ball reads are better, feels like they suddenly just clicked for me… Good luck with the push, you have been the goat channel, you have my blessings!

When they squash the higher rank players down, that means they're playing (and winning) against the lower ranks (duh - but stay with me here) that means the lower ranks are losing their games and getting pushed down further & it has a chain reaction down the line meaning that most people who don't grind like mad end up a lower rank by design.
