The fact that the actual artist is teaching us how to play one of his most well-known songs blows my mind. This is very, very cool.
  • Wow! It's not often you see the artist teaching people how to play the song. Thank you Mungo Jerry!

I remember when this song came out and now it's 2024 and it still makes me smile.

I love how he still sports his sideburns to this day. True legend
  • @Fernoll
"You don't need to be a genius to play that kind of song" No, but it takes a certein measure of genius to create it.
  • Man after 20 minutes of watching, I still have this silly grin on my face. How fun and what a nice unpretentious guy! Love stumbling on these gems…
  • Have a drink have a drive? Never noticed that line before. This guy is a real one.
  • @gitsurfer27
Don't let this great lesson distract you from the fact this man is 74 years old! Aged like wine.

This song was 50 years ago. He is in great health. His speech is perfect, he still has awareness of camera presence, and his fingers still play excellently. I won't lie, I was expecting him to be as clueless about doing a youtube video as my parents are whenever the internet goes down for a minute.

I met Ray when he played at a local club. It was his birthday and the band presented him with a bottle of bubbly on stage. It was my pleasure to present it along with one of the bar staff. Absolutely top guy.

I don't want to imagine a world where this song doesn't exist.

Imagine hearing this song in 1970 when you're 16 years old, you just finished the last day of junior year of high school and you have the entire summer stretching out in front of you and your buds just a phone call away. Life, and summer is sweet.

Considering he must be around 70, he looks great, and he's such a positive, likeable guy -- bravo Mungo Jerry!! I've always loved this tune!

Isn't it wonderful that Ray's doing well, still healthy and with us 50 years later showing us how to play his famous song - great stuff!
  • @SemorreButte
Damn that "ch-ch-ch Ugh" sounds like the studio version

"You don't have to be a genius to play it"----- but you have to be a genius to write it. Without a doubt "In The Summertime" is one of the most unique and original songs ever. I think it's brilliant. People love it and it's been an enormous world-wide hit ever since it first came out. Very few people can come up with something so different and so appealing. It's not easy!
  • Love Ray Dorset he's a brilliant singer song writer and a humble and great human being. He was treated so unfairly by people who wanted to steal his glory and even so he's not bitter or angry. Just goes to show the true character of a great man and legend. Mungo Jerry will be with me always. Thank you Ray Dorsettt
  • @alejandrosancas
This man transmits the same good vibe as his song. A pleasure to see him playing, and a song that will never go out of style

This song has a very special meaning to me. When I was a small child, my grandpa was driving me around and suddenly this song came up on the radio and for the first time I recognized music as something special. I was used to the radio but it was the first time I felt in love with a song and to this day this song gives me the brightest smile. Thank you so much Mungo Jerry!
